Twilight Struggle: An AAR – Part 10

Our AAR of the new digital Twilight Struggle enters Turn 2 ~

PART 3
TURN 2, ROUND 2, USSR
(AUTHOR NOTE: I’m going to dispense with the TURN # ROUND # screenshots from here on, since it’s moot and already titled in the text.)
Looks like the USSR goes with ARAB-ISRALEI WAR for its 2 Ops, placing 1 Influence in Cameroon, Africa (gaining Control) and 1 Influence in Nicaragua (gaining Control there, too).
I’m guessing he has both CENTRAL AMERICA and AFRICA SCORING. I can’t afford to think otherwise at this point.
TURN 2, ROUND 2, US
Now that I have CONTAINMENT* fueling our Ops, I am going to go with COMECON* for Ops. I’ll let the game fire the Event first by clicking Resolve Event First. The USSR places 1 Influence in each of Finland, Austria, and Hungary.
Now, it’s my turn.
I’m going to Place Influence. I’m not quite ready to Coup anywhere, at least not yet.
I go with 1 Influence in Angola, removing the USSR’s Control there…which ends up costing me 2 Ops, but it breaks his hold on a Battleground country…
…1 Influence in Costa Rica…
…and 1 Influence in Egypt.
More than anything, I just want to give myself some options for further Influence expansion. If he indeed has either or both CENTRAL AMERICA and AFRICA scoring cards, I have some ground to make up in both Regions. If not, this will help me mitigate his advantages in both Regions. I know, I really DO NOT like having to react to the AI’s moves, but hopefully in the next AR I will be able to do a Coup and really mess him up good. I hope.

You should know that the only scoring cards in the early war period are Europe, Asia and Middle East?
