Scenario 7 – Marshall Islands
Part 1: Kwajalein and Roi-Namur Islands:
The Marshall Islands scenario is different from previous scenarios. First Kwajalein and Roi-Namur are invaded. A secondary victory condition is earned if both islands are controlled within twenty turns. Then you redeploy to invade Eniwetok and Parry islands. The second invasion has the airfields captured on Kwajalein and Roi-Namur. The second difference is firepower from the US Navy is available throughout the scenario.
The Kwajalein assault had two landing zones on the Western part of the island. Although I lost one Marine platoon on the far end of the landing zone, the rest of the landing went smoothly.
My two landing groups quickly linked up and heavy artillery was landed on D-Day plus 1. I advanced steadily with minimal casualties to quickly secure Kwajalein. With the heavy artillery and the off-shore naval gunnery, this was an easy battle.
Roi-Namur used only one landing zone. I used the two platoons to the West as a blocking force.
Counter-attacks necessitated withdrawing one platoon to reinforce and resupply. The main force including my armor seized the eastern half of the island.
My Roi-Namur forces then combined and quickly seized the western half of the island. I earned victory on turn 13 with 7 turns to spare to earn the secondary victory condition.
Success!
