GrogCast Season 5 – Episode 3

21 July 2017 ~

Michael returns, and he and Brant discuss some summer gaming, and movies & music for the background during your gaming sessions.  This is a shorter episode, and yes, we should’ve had Gus on it for that very reason ~

What do we talk about?  Papers, Please; Splendor on the phone; 3d printing; Dragon SlayerOutpost Gamma; some music & movies & YouTube playlists; and, well…   THRUST STICKS

Don’t forget to bounce over to iTunes, and give us a rating, so we can start showing up in their charts.

GrogCast Season 5 – Episode 2

14 July 2017 ~

Season 5 continues with Brant, and guests Toonces and Mirth.  We discuss Cold Waters, and General Quarters using Topside Miniatures, and naval wargaming just for fun.  We cover some of the headaches of the Total War series, finding a balance of complexity & ease of play, and we talk about big game groups & finding folks with whom to game.

And please cruise over to over on iTunes, and leave us some stars, to help us get enough to start getting enough reviews to appear in their rankings.

And yes, Brant called a “Kriegspiel” a “Kickstarter”…  damned “KS” initials

GrogCast Season 5 – Premiere Episode

7 July 2017 ~

Kicking off our new season with Cyrano, Panzerde, and Barthheart, the three amigos talk about wargaming in the age of gunpowder, kriegspiel vs hex-and-counter, and some Origins entertainment (yes, we’re still talking about Origins – it was fun, OK?).

Don’t forget to leave us a review over on iTunes, and help us get enough to start getting some visibility in their rankings.

GrogCast Season 4, Episode IIIIIII

20 January 2017 ~

The lost/last episode of Season 4 is finally here – just in time for Season 5 to start recording–

Chris joins us to talk about Civilization games, and Chris joins us to talk about card games, and they’re not the same Chris!  We also cover Star Wars toys and the X-Wing minis game, the General Quarters naval warfare games, and some gaming with the families.  Not the groggiest of episodes, but if you’ve been jonesin’ for a GrogCast, we’re here to give you a fresh hit.

GrogCast Season 4, Episode IIIIII

tanksgivingheader

22 November 2016 ~

Professional Wargamer (no, really, he gets paid to play wargames!) and GrogHeads Central Command crew member James Sterrett swings in for a visit and discusses Star Wars Rebellion, asymmetric warfare, Castle Ravenloft – Darths & Droids comparisons, Civilization 5 expansion packs, Napoleonic games, and unnecessary international government travel.  There’s also no truth to the rumor that he was Patient Zero of the latest Grog Flu epidemic, although there was a hint of yellow fever (so what is that – ‘beige fever’?).  There’s not a ton of pure tank content in here, but if we’d been able to get it edited in time, it would’ve been released in September.

GrogCast Season 4, Episode IIIII

2 November 2016 ~

RPG Legend Bruce Heard joins us for a fascinating look at his roundabout journey from young game translator through running an entire product line for TSR to his current self-publishing projects with the World of Calidar.  As usual, we cover our current game-playing fun, and we also pester Bruce for a few war stories from the glory days of Mystara.  Oh, and Chris might have rolled his tongue back up.  Maybe.

Special thanks to Bruce for taking time out his schedule for us, and check out his World of Calidar stuff, with the second wave of Kickstarter projects shipping now!

GrogCast Season 4, Episode IIII

27 October 2016 ~

The Yoda of GrogHeads, Jim Zabek, returns to the GrogCast for a chat about what we played over the summer and what’s on the table today…  We talk about Scythe, Liberty or Death, summer game groups, mobile digital gaming, and more.  And sorry about the tapping; the NSA had their interns eavesdropping instead of the usual seasoned professionals.

Note that we recorded this one a while back, so some of the “what did you play this week” sounds kind of out-of-order from previously-released podcasts from this season.

GrogCast Season 4, Episode III

18 October 2016 ~

Our first guests of Season 4 are Matthew Kirschenbaum and Pat Harrigan, editors of the fabulous tome Zones of Control, which we previously reviewed.  They give us some insight on how the book came about, the process of pulling it all together, and some surprises from the contributors.
