A Crusader Kings II AAR, with all the seriousness of a cooler full of lunch meat

In Part 4 Oberto conquered Genoa, but its set up is incorrect and it’s imposing huge financial punishment on the house of di Parma. To help all other aspiring Counts rise to the seats of Dukes and Kings we enlisted the help of Jennifer Aniston to explain how to fix it. In Part 5 the fix is completed and Oberto spies a Duchy.

The treasonous and defeated Baron Lando is cordially invited to try out Oberto’s new dungeon. This time he has no choice about giving me the castle and his barony. I am proud I started a war of Tyranny.

As you can see the main seat of Genoa has returned to being a castle.

Having departed the city seat to manage the castle/barony seat, Oberto now leaves a vacancy in the city. Genoa is up there as one of the richest provinces and it needs a man in charge who’s good with figures – our Steward.

…….and the warning’s disappeared. Highlighted in the bottom right hand corner are the penalties imposed on a recently conquered province. To overcome the tax penalty we move in the Steward to raise taxes, and to overcome the levy penalty we move in the Martial to start training new Genoese troops.

The heir to the throne of England needs a wife. And I have a daughter, she hasn’t come of age yet but it’s worth a shot to arrange the betrothal and see if the Prince will wait for her.

I think Oberto has enough kids now and we can ramp down his hedonistic lifestyle whilst scooping up some positive church opinion.

With the emergency mercenary piggy bank topped up it’s time to stomp Nice and see about claiming the Duchy of Genoa.

3 – 1 odds, always a di Parma tactic where possible, and this time we get to bring in the Crazy Corsicans.

Pffft, bring some success to the place and Dad suddenly wants a piece of the action. He can have a slice of Nice when it’s under di Parma rule.

The first part of Nice falls, their army is crushed, it’s just a matter of time…….
