Arriving at my home port of Port Royale, I began to offload the many barrels of sugar I purchased along the Spanish Main and began negotiations with the merchants to buy as many barrels of rum as I could reasonably afford. Additionally, I managed to find a merchant who had bought too many cigars and was able to pick up several boxes for a song.
The pirates of late have been harassing trade routes to the west, so decided to plot my course toward the eastern isle of Guadeloupe, where rum and cigars were always in short supply. There I could make a tidy profit, swing down to Georgetown in the south, pick up some finished linen clothing which they make so well, and then return to Port Royale to sell it again for a king’s ransom.
As long as the weather holds and they pirates stay at bay, making a living in the Caribbean is a life in paradise.
