Are there two Cactus Air Force games contending in the boardgames section or is that an oops?

Also, the order of contenders shifts around with each page refresh. Weird...

Technically there are two Cactus Air Force games coming out around now, but only one was released in 2012 AFAIK. It's probably a duplicate, but Brant has some family stuff going on and prolly won't be able to fix until tomorrow.

The order swapping is deliberate. We didn't want any sampling bias by listing the same game at the top each time. So Brant added a randomization feature.

That was an 'oops' - it should've been in there noting that it's the Decision Games' Cactus Air Force so as to distinguish between that one and the forthcoming GMT game by the same name.  Normally we don't note the publishers, but felt it was necessary here b/c we had just called out GMT's p500 for their Cactus Air Force in the last GARPA, and wanted to reduce confusion.

Exactly.  It's especially an issue when you have a looooong list, like our overall digital game list.

I've removed the duplicate Cactus Air Force entry.  I normally wouldn't advocate futzing with a poll once it's open, but we only had 6 votes in so far for that category, so I don't think we're ruining anyone's like (and one of them was mine ;) )

If you already voted once for the overall Boardgame of the Year, you'll need to vote again.  Sorry :(

We'll try not to screw it up again.

It will be interesting to see how these turn out and how many votes are given.  Are you guys spreading the word about this to other sites to draw in more votes or is it mainly for the readers who are already here?

Why isn't Chivalry Medieval Warfare included on the list, since it is the direct competitor with War of the Roses? Also Witcher 2 and Panthers in the Fog?

We held nominations open for over a month. They weren't nominated.

Not much yet, but feel free to jump in and help spread the word!

edit:  notes posted at BattleFront forums for CMFI, and on FB for GMT, DGS, and Decision company pages.

Feel free to spread the word elsewhere.

Witcher 2 came out in May 2011.

I'm glad to see Conflict of Heroes get some love.  It really does deserve it.  It's a wonderful game that really translates the feeling of playing a boardgame very well to the pc.
