Fellow Grogheads! I thought I would post a link to Diary of a Mad King - An Imperialism II AAR, a sort of tutorial AAR I did a few years back. It offers some tips on how to play the game (and in this case lose!) for beginners. I still have the excellent, offical strategy guide so feel free to ask me questions here (or on my site) and I'll try to answer them.  :)
I also have a couple of Imperialism I graphic mods over there to make that game a little more pleasing to the eye.
"My life is spent in one long effort to escape from the commonplace of existence."
-Sherlock Holmes

"You know, just once I'd like to meet an alien menace that wasn't immune to bullets."
-Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

"There's a horror movie called Alien? That's really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you!"
-The Doctor

"Before Man goes to the stars he should learn how to live on Earth."
-Clifford D. Simak

Sorry!  It was the most apt term that came immediately to mind at the time.  (I doubt I'm the only person who experiences an involuntary tightening of the sphincter whenever I spend large amounts of money -- whether in games or RL...)  :P

No worries -- it was just such a novel turn of phrase, I couldn't resist commenting. Of course, now that I know it's possible to say this, the world seems a slightly darker place ...

He is very handsome.

(I've never seen an Imp2 AAR.  This is cool!)

upto mission 12 of the tutorial - twice i have fallen down not reading a briefing properly and wondered what the hell i was supposed to do - READ the briefings and all will be well, dont send your explorer to build a port and dont start trade negotions with the Iriquois when the the briefing says MINOR NATION!!!
Yeah, it appears it will be important to keep in mind that "Neutral Powers" are separated into two categories -- Minor Nations (Old World) and Tribes (New World) -- as they seem to work slightly differently.

Well that would make sense when discussing butts and sphincters.  ;D

"Like we need an excuse to drink to anything..." - Banzai_Cat
"I like to think of it not as an excuse but more like Pavlovian Response." - Sir Slash

"At our ages, they all look like jailbait." - mirth

"If we had lines here that would have crossed all of them. For the 1,077,986th time." - Gusington

"Government is so expensive that it should at least be entertaining." - airboy

"As long as there's bacon, everything will be all right." - Toonces

Sir Slash

I think Martok may be on to something here. I'm playing Shogun 2 FOTS and I finally get the British Trade Port so I can recruite Royal Marines. They're $2200 per unit--- Butt-Clinch follows. I can also build the "Warrior" class ironclad. They're $44,400 per unit. My whole digestive system involuntary clinches then. This may be the single most apt new descriptive term of 2013. But I think we need to come up with a way to shorten the term. Maybe a "B. Clinch", "Butt-Clin", a "Big B.C.", or a "Digitally Induced Wedgie"(DIW). I vote Martok gets to make the call. ;D
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

Gusington

Now you are cooking with gas, Sir! BTW the HMS Warrior is worth it :)

слава Україна!

We can't live under the threat of a c*nt because he's threatening nuclear Armageddon.

Sir Slash

Yeah. I'm hoping the enemy gets a "Butt-Clinch" when they see it coming at them. My mistake. The correct cost is $14,400 each. Much better.

Yup.  When I get scared you couldn't drive a needle up there with a bulldozer.

"Big BC" has a nice ring to it.  ;)
