Close Action: the Indian Ocean: 13 September 1810

  Outnumbered two-to-one, the two French Frigates ran from the RN force only to bump into them at close range at night (in the image we see the French E (Iphigenia) and D (Astree) and the lead RN frigate (A), the Africaine.  The wind is 3 (Oceanic and gusty) and the sea is heaving a bit with oceanic swells:

   Africaine takes unrolls a broadside at Astree and does no damage.  The RN flagship, Boadicea (B), is in the picture:

   Africaine takes unrolls a broadside at Astree and does no damage.  The RN flagship, Boadicea (B), is in the picture:

   Africaine and Iphigenia exchange broadsides at  about 200 yds.  Iphigenia has a better crew and a first broadside bonus and scores some significant damage on the RN Frigate -- which has a bad crew rating but still with good morale -- they pass a morale check to fix their falling rigging and another morale check to avoid getting a worse crew rating:
