Only an alien would use "cecum" in a conversation.

Exactly!  Any native knows that it's "caecum"!

Any Brit native that is.
Its cecum in the US.

While we're on the topic, why is it that our UK friends insist on adding random, useless vowels?  oesophagus, leukaemia, haematology, colour, etc?

When I'm not on Grogheads, I run a cancer research lab.
I had a Kiwi postdoc who kept on talking to me about a mouse with a chooma.

I'm like, WTF is a chooma?  Is it like a cheeseball?

Nope.  Phonetic spelling of tumor.  In New Zealand.

Good, that is as it should be.
