Stardock have today announced Ashes of the Singularity.

"Not an RTS battle, an RTS war"

Here's the FAQ - it's very interesting reading.  The big deal about this game is that the game will scale from several units up to whole armies, with units becoming meta-units as you scale up.

There don't seem to be any videos yet but there are nice-looking screenshots on the website.  What I'm personally most excited about is that it will come to Linux - this could be a major turning point for Stardock, and will hopefully mean GalCiv 3 on Linux as well as whatever else they make.

Very interesting idea. If they can really pull off the meta-unit thing this could be pretty good.

I think developers must be running out of names for their games, lol! At least it's innovative.

Very small video on twitter from originpc of it running on DX11 and DX12:

This is the team that made the Nitrous engine that was being demoed a while back, and this is the game they have built on top of it.

Looking at the screenshots, it makes the scale of the Supreme Commander series seem downright modest by comparison.  (Now just imagine what could be done with a 4x game that allowed space battles this size...!)  :o

Yeah, sounds like a good idea.  This is all Boggit's fault!

I wanted to merge this earlier but on my phone it's almost impossible. Once I get to a proper computerI can do it.

Had to reopen this to announce that Ashes of the Singularity has been released on Steam early access for 20% off which puts the price at 39.99. It looks to be a mix of Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes. Anyone jumped on this yet?

I've had it for months, but haven't played too much. What I have experienced is positive though.
