It looks exactly like Gus' samurai game, only in Greece instead of Japan.

Quote-Explore the massive open world of Mount Olympus! Battle mythical beings and search for divine treasure across the Forests of Artemis, the Palaces of Apollo, and other sanctuaries of the Gods.

Don't recall anything about an open world rpg on the samurai one, unfortunately.

I think the artwork looks exceptionally unique & representative of the period art too:

Maybe it'll just be some short 10-hour experience.  I dunno.  But the 'Open World' part pushed me into the WANTSIT category.

as a resident Greek here, I approve  ;)

The artwork is neat.  This theme sort of reminds of the old console "The Battle of Olympus" on the NES.
"I will return before you can say 'antidisestablishmentarianism'."

"A man may fight for many things. His country, his principles, his friends. The glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn."

Apotheon was just released.

Looks like I'm picking up two new releases today!

^Have you picked up Vulture for Nethack already?

Nefaro, you're only causing my wishlist to grow fatter.

Vulture for NetHack was free on Desura last I checked.

Hrmm.. seems they're now charging for it.  Has something been overhauled recently?  Unless there are some noticeable changes, I may pass even at the low price.

I played it a couple years ago.  Was okay but rather long in the tooth and the UI was a bit odd.  I might consider picking it up if there has been a lot of additions or improvements.  But with the new graphical version of ADOM supposedly coming out soon (with a free beta demo of an earlier version available), and WazHack available, there are better NetHack derivatives out there.

Steam forces you to charge for a game in order to get trading cards and achievements, so this is why they are charging.
The money is more like a donation so they can continue to improve it.
You can still get it for free elsewhere.

It got released on GOG
http://www.gog.com/news/release_apotheon

I watched the game play trailer on GOG. Oddly, it reminded me of my kids playing Super Mario Brothers on the old Nintendo many, many years ago, only with Greek warriors instead of cartoon characters.
