You may be dead, but the U.S. government won't take you off its terrorist roster.

That's according to newly leaked internal guidelines from last year that reveal intimate details regarding the government's process for determining whether an individual should be designated as a possible terrorist suspect.

So broad are their criteria that an individual is able to be placed onto a watch list—and kept there—even if he or she is acquitted of a terrorism-related crime. Additionally, the guidelines note that a deceased person's name may stay on the list because such an identity could be used as an alias by a suspected terrorist.

Sounds like the people who wrote these guidelines are the same people who keep the voter roles up to date for the city of Chicago.

Believing that dead people are a threat would, in most people's view, be expressed with the phrase, "being afraid of ghosts."

Now I know there are a few folks on these boards who believe in ghosts. As a matter of personal belief that's well and good.

But when our national security policy is based on protecting us from the supernatural? I need a job like that.

Not to be a comedy buzz-kill, but wouldn't this be prudent as dead people's names might be used for naughty purposes?

As Labbug indicated, the Democrats are quite good at getting dead people to vote. If they could only get them to pay taxes too, they'd have it made.

That's illegal in all fifty states. Russia? Maybe ok to get naughty with the dead. But not here.

I guess I should have clarified that by "naughty" I meant "illegal" and not "necrophiliac."  :2funny:

That is really funny! :2funny: But don't you have inheritance tax on dead people's estates? That's pretty close to getting dead people to pay taxes.... >:D

isnt that a state to state law?

ah, for the US:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estate_tax_in_the_United_States

If an asset is left to a spouse or a Federally recognized charity, the tax usually does not apply. In addition, up to a certain amount varying year by year, amounting to $5,250,000 for estates of persons dying in 2013[2] and $5,340,000 for estates of persons dying in 2014[3] can be given by an individual, before and/or upon their death, without incurring federal gift or estate taxes.[4]

ya, the laws here are loose enough to get away with a lot.
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

That's very generous. 8) In the UK you get the spouse exemption, but on the spouses death the allowance IIRC is around £380K, above that you pay 40% Inheritance tax. There are a few other exemptions and reliefs, but that's basically it. :(

QuoteAccording to Weekly Standard writer and Fox News contributor Stephen Hayes, he himself has been placed on the Department of Homeland Security's terrorist watch list. Hayes told his Twitter followers about this development Tuesday:

It's entirely prudent to keep people on the watch list even if they are known to be dead. No one is more likely to become a zombie or vampire than a terrorist.
