Battle Fleet 2 is out on iPad
« on: July 18, 2014, 06:14:48 AM »
Nice naval combat game. Turn based combat. Campaign layer with map of Pacific with zones you need to control. Play as either US or Japan.
Combat is not a simulation but you do set gun angle and power to hit targets, which include ships, gun emplacements and air fields. You also can use air strikes, both land based and carrier.
Hull damage is point based strength bar but you can target/damage certain systems as well, such as bridge, rudder, gun turrets, ammo stores etc.

For $4.99 it's seems pretty good so far.

Oh, and it's going to be cross platform MP as well... iOS, Android, and PC.

Thanks for posting about the game. I'm the designer, so feel free to ask any questions or leave feedback. Also, it just launched on Desura as well: http://www.desura.com/games/battle-fleet-2

I've bought it for my android tablet, played few times and have one complaint- some ship configurations are weird. I've got Japanese cruiser with ONE (!) medium turret (facing rear), few small turrets, and the rest - only torpedoes! Hardly usefull in any combat! Second thing - why torpedo launchers on dd's and ff's are only facing front and rear and not sides? And finally - a torpedo launcher on a BB is a waste of space, who would think about using battleship for torpedo runs? I would really love to see more historical ship configs (those gun-heavy Myoko-class cruisers...)
But generally I like this game.

Great news! Battle Fleet 2 has just been updated with Submarines and other cool features!

You can now add subs to your fleet and use anti-sub warfare to counter them. Destroyers and Frigates now carry sub-detection and depth charges, while recon flights can be used to spot subs that have gone deep.

Also, I've added destructible terrain so you can punch holes through the island, improved the campaign AI, added French, Polish & German translations and lots of other fixes. You can get the game from http://www.battlefleetgame.com.

Let me know what you think.

@PAK thanks for the feedback as well. You can select weapons for your ships in Custom battles, but I'll look into a way to do this in the preset ships in the campaign map as well.

Thanks! That means a lot!

I've been getting lots of feedback since the sub update and lots of feature requests, especially an Atlantic campaign. To help expand the game and add all this cool new stuff, I've put together a funding campaign through Indiegogo where supporters can contribute to the game and actually vote on what features I add next. If you like the game, please help us spread the word by sharing the link with your friends:

http://igg.me/at/bf2expansions

Also, aside from all of the perks available for supporters, I'll be giving away prizes (gift cards, free copies of this and other games, etc..) to people who can refer the most supporters. To do that you'll need to use the share buttons at the top of the campaign page so your referrals are tracked :)
