Remember Stadock's Impulse game store?

They sold it to (can't remember the name -gamestore ???). Now all the games I bought on it have been lost. No access from their online digital site and customer service support can't fix it. I had about a dozen games. Poof, gone.

Believe it was Gamestop who then discontinued it at some point and replaced with their own download app.  I could be misremembering, but I think although the old legacy impulse games couldn't be downloaded from their new gamestop app, you could work through support to get them.....again, I may be confusing with another provider but for some reason remember possibly doing this for a game I had.  Wasn't the most elegant process, but still got it.....I didn't have many games through impulse so wasn't a huge loss to me but certainly understand how it could be for others.

The running back issue has been long known with Gus, and he's not really been inclined to change.  He's driven backs into the ground by years end.  The man broke Kerryon Johnson and probably contributed to his early exit from the program.

Caddy, as the the new RB Coach, has promised a RB by committee approach more similar to Bama's this year.   We'll see if Gus will follow through.

As to the QB, yeah, I know it's tough to give a dual threat QB all the pressure all year all the time.   I'm ok if Gus finds a good balance in a two QB system, but he needs to do it in a balance that is logical, not one that breaks the rhythm just on the play-calling or field position.   If he's going with Nix, let the guy run the offense inside the 20.

And I'm hoping he's picking Nix because he's the more Dak Prescott type than the Nick Marshall.  Auburn would be a monster with a Prescott behind center.

Gene Billingsley, one of the founders of GMT wrote a wonderful tribute to Richard Berg.

I have had the first one for about five years, on Steam. I didn't appreciate just how good it was, until I played a couple of games. A very deep, yet accessible strategy game.

This year I've had (in order):

1] Mansions of Madness

2] Buffy the Vampire Slayer

and currently
3] Big Trouble in Little China

My wife played 1 & 2 with me.  I'm learning Big Trouble in Little China but got hung up on home issues for a bit.

For Gus's system to work he has to have a real duel threat quarterback.  Given the every day pounding every running back gets in every SEC game, it is real hard to have a QB who can take that amount of punishment for a season.

Even running backs in the SEC if they take a lot of snaps will go down with injuries for at least a couple of games most seasons.  Very few SEC running backs can go for 1,000 yards and not get hurt at some point.  And that goes double for running QBs who have to be able to throw, handoff, and toss-sweep.  Tebow is the only guy I can remember in the last 15-20 years who played for two years consistently as a running QB.

Cam was hurt in the National Championship game.  And Marshall only started one season.

Nix was named QB in this morning's local paper for whatever that means to Gus.

I'm not the football guru that many are, college basketball is my favorite sport.  But there are not a lot of successful SEC dual threat QBs over time (as opposed to a scrambler of opportunity like Dak Prescott).

Books & Reading / Re: What are we reading?

I just finished Balkan Ghosts - written just before the fall of the Berlin Wall to the early 1990s.  Very interesting, very depressing.

His thesis was that every nation, ethnic group, religion, and what-not view the borders of the Balkans as "what ever point in history we had our high water mark - plus maybe a bit more" as the "natural boundary" of nations in the region.

Having been fortunate to travel through the area (Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Hertegnova, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Chezt Republic (spelling) and Greece it is a really screwed up region.  We did a Danube cruise from Bulgaria to Vienna and we have been to Turkey three times.

The number of monuments to wars not even remembered by the rest of the world (3 wars in the Balkans before WW1, every war and uprising against the Turks, and every single religious war ever) plus the casual comments by people about how much they hated (insert name - but everyone the Turks and Moslems outside the Turks and Moslems) to chance foreign visitors is amazing.  That was from our travels.

It is an interesting book - but it has its gaps.  The guy does not understand historical agriculture (Romania was a breadbasket of Rome and much of Europe until WW2 and when the Communists really screwed it up) and some other things.  Still, it gives you an excellent "slice of life" of the ethnic hatreds and ethnic cleansing that have been going on there since the 1200s.

You are absolutely not going to have to guinea pig Mount and Blade II.

I don't imagine many of us aren't going to plunge with you.
