so Im looking at parts for the new pc and the board is one of the better asus amd jobs. 
the question is that the specs say it supports dual channel ram but the corsair stuff Im looking at says theyre quad channel.
whats the deal with that?

I'm a bit behind mobo releases, but from what I read online, that mobo supports dual-channel memory.  I think you can still use the Quad channel memory, however you're not getting any of the advertised benefit since the mobo is dual channel.

The Corsair model you are looking at states:
Also compatible with Intel and AMD dual channel DDR3 Platforms, including 2nd and 3rd generation Intel Core i7 and i5 systems

If you have sights set on this board - maybe try comparing the price of dual channel memorry vs quad channel memory ?

the HDD looks sweet.  I think if you really want to limit the 'slowness' though, you might want to use a solid state HDD for the main operating system.  I know it's less space and pricey though.  Your HDD candidate is very fast though, so maybe not a biggie.

What sort of GPU are you looking at?

I think you'll fine, hope you can fire up WoT again.  My own rig is a bit of date and had to lower the graphics settings.  Hope I can get a chance to update.

the pc that died was built about 7 years ago to be a powerhouse CAD machine.  it stood up well with only the occasional GPU and HDD upgrade.  I wish I had the money to throw at this one that I had then.  if I pull the trigger on it I'll probably swap out the video card over the summer.
