Title: FRIDAY damage
Post by: Jarhead0331 on October 12, 2018, 06:29:36 AM

My brother and sister-in-law are in town, so probably not much gaming. However, if I get the chance, more Assassins Creed Odyssey, Armored Brigade beta and some Star Citizen alpha 3.3.

See you guys on the Dark Side of the Moon...

The Red Orchestra franchise has bit me hard again, so I'll be popping between Vietnam and WW2.

Stay safe, folks!

Continuing my Odyssey in Greece and maybe buy Gemini Warlords (https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/8031/Starpoint_Gemini_Warlords_Gold_Pack/ on sale) to try it out.

Really can't beat Dark Side of the Moon.

I am putting Witcher 3 Blood and Wine (reluctantly) aside and finally have some time this weekend to start Vampyr.

And probably a vampire counts campaign in Warhammer TW, to keep with the theme.

I am having more fun with Civilization VI than with Civilization V right now. Out of curiosity, i've started two campaigns with similar settings (huge, no city-states and with Rome). I am surprised as i wasn't convinced by the game after my first campaign.

I am also going to continue my first Stellaris campaign (smallest map) but can't seem to be going very far (just started to colonize my 4th planet after more than 10 hours of gameplay). It's not a bad game but i am somehow disappointed by it. I had higher expectations.

Finally, i have finally started a full campaign of Aggressors: ancient Rome playing with Carthage. Still learning the game.

Stellaris, Phantom Doctrine, and Heroes & Generals.  I am also dabbling with Ring of Elysium but mostly play only with my online friends.

Awesome song choice JH...there's hope for you yet.  :-"  :notworthy:
Been getting into GT: Mius Front. That newer 'how to play' YouTube video someone posted recently in another thread had helped me figure out the difficult UI.

May give Masters of Orion a good start. Space Hulk Tactics is looking tempting.

  I'm starting my life in the Assassin's series with Black Flag.  Pretty amusing so far.  If you carry a musket and two pistols whilst on Nassau, you get get around half of the Red Coats in a given bunch before coming into stabbing distance.  The muskets aren't rated, but one shot seems to drop most opponents, while pistols are less effective of course.

Time will be limited but probably spent on the Endless series (legend and space 2).

Might try to get some Monster Hunter going too.

Plus Witcher 3 has been unduly neglected.

I like it a lot so far. I never took a close look at the freeware version so I don't have that to compare it to. I'm still learning how to play it, but there is a lot going on in there and that really appeals to me. Seems to have very in depth unit stats, LOS modeling, terrain factors, weather, morale, training. These are all things I like to see.

I've been having a lot of fun chewing through Shadow of War, and will no doubt continue doing so.

The GROGPUBLIC has hit its first serious political spat as Fabius of the Conservatives, recently elected Consul, attempts to edge himself into also being the first Pontifex Maximus after the defeat of the last Roman king Tarquinius.

Shelldrake's Soviet horde is flooding into France now in our Grogfest Strategic Command Classic multiplayer tournament. By which I mean the heavy tanks have rolled over Paris and some harbor in Normandy (maybe Cherbourg). It's very much a repeat of 1940, except there's no Vichy. ...which, uh, is all in accordance with my plan!  :bd: :hide:

I'll be trying to figure out how to use MekHQ (or something) to roll up at least one Lance for Yskonyn's mp Battletech game, which is spinning up again.

   The ships are nice, but (having played too much Naval Action or something), my taste for sailing ship warfare is a bit jaded.  I might just do enough nautical stuff to get some Mayan gear or something.

I'm trying to find something new and spooky in Skyrim. The abandoned Dwarf cities are too well lit to be scary, the Drauger scare the crap out of me when they pop out of their caskets but are getting a little predictable so my thinking is the Falmer caves, they're very dark and because they hear so well you have to go real slow and quiet. Vampires might work too. And I seem to remember a ghost ship way up north somewhere. Then there's always the two naked people in the hot springs. They always creep me out the way they watch me when I walk by.

* Ancestors Legacy
* WarThunder Ships
* DCS hopefully
* War of Rights just went to phase II for phase II backers and added weather and regimental flag spawning. Tempted to download that as well. But still no playable cannon or cavalry. Not that cavalry is a major issue. But I like to have things to shoot at or with.
* Toying with downloading star citizen 3.3 to see if the performance increases now make it playable planetside.

Warframe of course; my gaming group and I made a clan and we're steadily building up our dojo and researching all the cool stuff.

I just bought Starpoint Gemini 2 on a whim so I'll take a look at that as well.  I remember enjoying the first game.

Also for timewasting purposes last week I bought Carrier Deck and it's been a surprisingly compelling experience so far.  Well worth the money.  It's just the right level of frustrating.  In order to get five stars on every mission you have to be more or less perfect in your airframe management.  I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would; and when I'm done with the campaign there's a survival mode along with standalone random missions to do.

Battletech, Destiny 2, Warfighter Modern Solitaire and I am studying the StarFire rulebooks. My intention is to come up with something later this year thats based on the StarFire ruleset, but much more playable as a forum game! The system has some mechanics thats are just genius, but it has become so convoluted over time. Less is more, but that takes time.
The great thing about the system is that the GameMaster runs the Non-Player-Races so he is not only an admin looking what others are doing. Also, if someone wants to go on a break, but return later, his race can jurt be put on NPR autopilot mode for a while.
Excellent base to create something forum worthy!

Literally in the game. (Though for "siren" you should think of a floating base which sends out a sonic signal that drives people crazy to join up with Slaanesh.)

Having said that, I'm a tad unsure if you can start as a dwarven captain, or if you unlock that new start position along the way. I shall experiment and report back. Possibly with a video.

Alas, it does not seem to be possible to start a dwarf campaign. Only a human campaign (though that can be one of a few human factions, or the four Chaos factions). Dwarves are in the game... I think... but not as player characters.

 I had envisioned a weekend of college football and digging into tw: warhammer but alas that wasn't to be. I was asked to work Saturday and Sunday. Gotta get it when you can although uncle sam will grab much of it.

Monday I start a new project at our zoo and shortly after that a larger project at a municipal theater in the same park. Should be an interesting fall.

Finally getting the hang of Histwar Napoleon. In some ways I enjoy it more than Scourge of War.
Of course, it helps that I'm halfway through the book "1809: Thunder on the Danube" and I can play the battles of Adensberg, Eckmuhl, etc.

I bought a few games on Steam last night:

Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows.  A very interesting take on tower defense.  You place empty towers on the map then craft gems of various colours and grades to fill them with.  Different colours have different effects and call can be mixed and upgraded etc.  There's a shitload of interconnecting systems to vary the gameplay and I gather there's a hell of a lot of maps too.  I recommend it very highly to be honest; from what I've seen so far it looks like a bit of a gem lololololololololol.

Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising.  Anyone remember this classic?!  It's probably the third time I've bought it.  It's getting rather painful to play on modern screens but I dare say I'll do a fair amount of the campaign before giving up.

Stars in Shadow: Looks very promising but there's a graphical bug preventing me from playing which I'm trying to solve.

Histwar: Napoleon...man, that's  a game I haven't thought of in a while.

It's one of those games I REALLY wanted to like but never sat down and learned. I'm in the process now. In a lot of ways, I prefer it over SoW...mainly the appearance. I get formations with batallions that don't overlap and twist. I also get the command delay mechanics I love like SoW.

Plus, the firing effects. Not as good as total war but the light smoke that slowly and gently emerges from the ether in SoW drives me nuts
