Police have ID'd a suspect, still on the loose, from CCTV cams on the tram.

Anyway I live in the same province and because the perp is on the loose they initiated a lockdown at first. Schools closed, people stuck at work.

I was at home and didnt watch the news yet. Also no call from
School, so when I got texted by my wife imagine my face.

A few calls later I confirmed my children were safe and picked up by the nanny.

Now the lockdown is only active for Utrecht city afaik.

Eyewitness reports mention the gunman was primarily aiming for a woman on the tram, and shooting those that helped her.

As Yskonyn mentioned, it's might've had a social motive or something like avenging staining the "honour" of a family instead of terrorism. Too early to tell at this point.

The suspect was identified surprisingly quickly, but it seems he had been convicted before so maybe some police officer simply remembered the guy.

The topic title is misleading. It was no mass shooting (unless I am unfamiliar with the term due to language).

Two men have been put into custody.
One is the shooter the other is unknown but aparently was also involved.

Three people are confirmed dead.

5 people are wounded, of which three critically.

Motive is still unknown. Terrorist or emotional motive are both possible.
