What happens if we run out of regular ammo?

Use harsh language.

Got a lot of not much done, but did help some fellow Grogheads (from and off site!) work through getting into Tabletop Simulator over the weekend. Gave a couple lectures on how to play Churchill and Fire in the Lake (the rules for the latter being not as permanently wired into my head now as I thought!  :hide: :-[ ::) ), and then a number of us got together to start learning Warfighter (thanks to Nefaro if I recall correctly, right?) with quite a number of expansions.

Currently our three-specialist kill-team is traipsing a catwalk clearing it out and looking for a way off, on our way to rescue some hostages. Explosives are already running a bit dry, but fortunately we can't use explosives to save the hostages anyway.  :))
O0 Thank you. Very informative and Fire in the Lake looks good.

And sorry I couldn't stay - it was late here (11 I think when I left)

What happens if we run out of regular ammo? How again do we know when we have to reload?

(Lol'd at Mirth's Aliens joke, rip Bill!)

I think if we run out of regular ammo we are basically screwed. I mean, we could try to continue hand-to-hand, but what we carry is what we've got.

The reload rules are a bit goofy (giving results like Nef offloading everything in his shotgun in the first round at a guy who popped up in our staging area at range 0!)

Every weapon has a reload factor printed on the card next to "reload", which might be different at different ranges. In my case, my SCAR has a reload factor of 2 for both ranges (0 and 1).

When we're rolling the attack dice, we're always rolling at least one 10 sided die. Sometimes more, like when I go full auto and roll three d10s with my SCAR.

If any of those d10 on an attack roll a 1 or a 2 (because I have a reload factor of 2 at any range), then I've burned through my clip. There can be skills or items or maybe action cards to help adjust for this.

I think the same 2-factor applied to your M16, but you also had a single-shot grenade launcher underslung. Every shot of that was burning up one ammo. I suspect however that we were supposed to be flipping your chips over to "empty" requiring to to spend an action point (or a card or skill or item or whatever) reloading. I don't think (upon consideration) you were supposed to be getting a free automatic reload for something that bulky!

Ask the UN to send a somewhat critical letter.

Note: rolling a 1 or 2 on a d10 is almost certainly going to be a miss, too! -- whether for killing or for suppressing. (The d6 which is typically rolled with every attack, tells us whether a hit kills or only suppresses, depending on whether it rolls higher than the target card's cover factor.)

Nef: you should drop a note to DanV, about designing a joke "diplomacy" expansion pack (Steam DLC only).  <:-)

Thanks, it was great to hear from you!  :bd:

In hindsight it might have been better if I had just assigned everyone a faction and brute forced a couple of sample turns, covering topics as they came up.  :-[  :D

The cards and rolls do generate some great anecdotes, tho, don't they? Like after you emptied your shotgun clip for nothing at close range, just about the next thing you did was stealth into the side street and blast someone's face with the shotgun. We joked that this worked because the enemy had been deafened by you offloading everything at once the prior turn!

Tuna meanwhile used some xp he had earned up, to elite-shoot that 40 mm into an armed crowd allowing the refugee nearby, who had been preventing that action previously, to scramble away.

We were definitely removing my grenade launcher ammo with each shot. That's why I only have one left. But the gun ammo, I've only done one. Lol and forgot what the circumstances was that initiated the action.

JasonPratt

Yeah, but I think in hindsight we were supposed to be flipping your grenade ammo over with each shot requiring a reload.  :-[

Depends on the keyword for the 40mm.

If it says "Expend(ed)", then you just discard it.  Unlike magazines.

Perhaps the action to take one-shots like that already include reloading afterward?

Best way to find out is to look & see if the flip-side of the 40mm grenade ammo has "Empty" listed on it.  If not, then we did it right.  I don't recall see it on there (same as hand grenades and LAWs).

EDIT:

BTW - I posted links to the udpated manual and Keyword sheets in the Tabletop Simulator thread, a short distance below this one.

Barthheart

From what I remember you still need an action to reload the 40mm. Not for Grenades or LAWS, both one shot weapons.

Finally broke Fallout 4 wide open tonight. I had Minigus 2 sitting next to me, she must have been my lucky charm.

Became much more survivable, better at combat, cleared out a couple of buildings (police station, some offices) took on and won against a variety of enemies who had been kicking my ass, collected tons of loot, tons of new weapons, discovered the weapons table, the chemistry table, took on a ton of synths and raiders and had my finest hour in the Malden T Station. Even got a bunch of Stimpaks and some fusion cores for my armor. Think I got this now and can up the difficulty some.

Now I just have to decide whether I am going to go back to the story missions and clear out what was giving me so much trouble, or go to Diamond City (Boston) first. I've read online that most players should just make their way to Diamond City first, then go back out into the wastes but I am not sure. Had a ton of fun tonight just getting the hang of things.
