Not to put too fine a point on it:  1:1 fights are really short, right?

My son and I had at each other in the suggested learning furball last night and it usually ran like this:

1.  Initiative and select altitude
2.  Get to altitude of opponent if not already there
3.  Play card
  A.  Opponent counters card
  B.  Counter opponent's counter
  C.  Opponent counters my counter of his counter
  D.  Etc. until either
    1.  Damage is done
    2.  Nothing happens
4.  Draw cards and goto 2

Each fight seemed to run ca. 10 minutes.

Is this correct?

Obviously a bigger points game would be, well, bigger, and the campaign certainly is, but 1:1 are supposed to be like this, right?

We didn't miss anything?

Seems about right from my experiences. It's a card duel game. Campaigns and multiple craft add variations on the same themes.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

Thanks to you both...

And one more...

I think the rule is clear, but I was up late last night:

If I, say, "Maneuver 2" using one of the Maneuver ratings at the top left of a card, that can only be countered by a card that reads "Maneuvering" even if the "Maneuver 2" is on a "Barrel Roll" card, correct?
