Anyone pick this up yet?  Free for the base game -- apparently this is the salvaged 'Hearts of Iron Mobile' that Paradox abandoned.

I've just tinkered a bit with it... Not sure what my reaction is, other than 'mixed'  --  in some ways I quite like the visual character and 1940s retro aesthetic.  The presentation overall is pretty nice.  But I'm a little skeptical about the gameplay.  I don't need full-blown HoI for the iPad (as though such a thing would be possible at this point anyway), but this strikes me as a wee bit shallow... ?

I've also played with it a bit. Seems to be a bit deeper than the other WWII themed Risk like titles. But not sure if it's deep enough to be worth $7 for the full version...

I do like that you can plan and execute moves in a certain order to make surrounding and cutoffs possible. Every unit does not have to attack/move at teh same time in a turn. You can literally move each unit separately before moving any other unit. Same with attacks. Attacks can be supported by neighboring units.

You have air units, both bombers and fighters. Both can attack ground units and you can put fighters on patrol at the end of your turn to intercept enemy bombers in his turn.

AI seems decent in the free scenarios.... not great but decent.

Peeps this game will get better.   I have always felt that HOI was somewhat of a joke.   But for 6.99 this came is not worth it...yet.   Right now it is a axis&allies game that works.   I like it.   I love A&A.  The fine folk at Milton bradly should take notice.
