I've still not been on-line with it yet, still training with my DH4, but I'm willing to give it a bash.

My name on there is, erm, 'Ginger Knutt'.......... :-[

Sorry I missed your post Bob.

I was busy Roffing on Saturday in the "Bloody April" campaign.  This is a series of online battles in which each side is given tasks and their commanders formulate plans to carry them out.  Each side gets points for succeeding at their task (eg bombing an airfield or recon).  At the end of 9 missions the scores are totted up to find who is the winner.  From a personal perspective, what makes it exciting is that you're flying with a purpose and dead is dead (even if you prang your kite on take-off).

The reason I'm describing it here is that I thought it resembled a staff officers' wargame.  Each side has to organise its troops with a chain of command and work out how to utilise its resources.  For instance there was a bit of a row about the best pilots being given the best machines, but that was considered the most profitable strategy by the commander.

It's really designed for clans to fly together.  It's a little frustrating for me as a "mercenary" (the thought of anyone employing me as a virtual fighter pilot is pretty chucklesome) as I'm left out of things.  For instance, in my sortie on Saturday I was lumped in with a bunch of Russians.  TS is allowed within a flight, but it was lost on me - although I did learn that there is no Russian word for "two seater".  The lack of communication actually wasn't too much of a hindrance as I just followed my comrades about the sky as we escorted a couple "Harry Tates" on their arty shoot.  We were set upon by a bunch of Albies, but managed to shoot them all down (good pilots the Russians).  Inevitably I got separated during the scrap but managed to navigate to home base and landed intact.

So if I'm picked to fly next time, I'll be busy on Saturday, but I shall look out for "Ginger Knutt" on the servers.

Good stuff Ted, thanks. I deffo need more practice. I aint yet tried bombing with the DH4, although it does carry a decent payload.

For the Entente side the HP400 and the Felixstowe can take at least three, while the Gotha for the Central has a similar compliment
