TOP GUN 2 - Official. Includes drone warfare and 5th gen fighters. I really loved this cheese filled film as a kid. I still love watching it. The aircraft and carrier shots as well as the music are top notch. I believe kenny logins is doing the music again and tom cruise of course
A friend reckons Sandra Bullock has something to do with making top gun 2 more female oriented or at least raging about it?
That looks like a hornet to me:

"I feel the Need. The Need to.... skip this one". No, really. I hope it's great. Cause this is probably the only thing Disney doesn't own.
Yes. Still some of the best atmosphere and aerial cinema I have ever seen. Those early morning take offs at the bottom.
How, for guys of a certain age, could you not like the first one??

I bought The Wife a 'Talk to Me Goose' shirt like 5 years ago and she wears it almost every day.
BB: take me to bed or lose me forever!!
Did I read somewhere that the staring aircraft will be .... the Super Hornet. A no-brainer over the only aircraft that requires head sized paper bags be worn at every airshow.
They should have no problem getting authentic OPFOR aircraft for this one.
I've literally just bought myself (yesterday) a pair of Ray Ban gold rim Aviators! Spooky!
And a volleyball?
I don't even want to imagine a game of volleyball involving kilted Scotsmen.... :hide:

Could the Grogs Volleyball Team possibly play indoors? In AC where it doesn't get so hot and sweaty? And I also don't like to get sand in my shorts.
Cruise really nailed playing a supremely annoying naval aviator.
One reason they are annoying? Try calling them "pilots".
Hmm let's try that with our own resident aveeator.
I did think about that. >:D
Excellent!

Son of Goose, eh?
There's only one actor for such a role –
Ryan Gosling!

Is there a discussion about this film somewhere else? Can't believe it's not talk of the town. I've been to see it 4 times and it's absolutely superb. Better than the original in almost every way - and I was a huge fan of that one.
Anyway - get out and see it if you haven't.

I am dying to see it. I just have not had the chance, and honestly, I want to wait until the crowds die down a little.
I saw the movie in the theater when I was 9. It grabbed onto my imagination then and never let go. The new movie released on my daughter's 9th birthday. I think that is a special coincidence.
Hope to see it very soon.

Not sure I can take it.
I scream "DANGER ZONE!" constantly when playing DCS F-14.
If I start doing it in the Hornet someone next door is going to call the cops.
I thought it was good but not great. Pretty predictable overall and it wears the first film like a Siamese Twin with frequent flashbacks but it does have an appeal all it's own. Great action scenes, lovely Plane-Porn, and a climax I won't discuss here are the strong points. Forget about the accuracy of the combat and just enjoy it. And a nice non-political, 'Enemy' to combat so everybody's happy. Worth the price of admission. O0

Sir Slash's does a decent job of surmising it - but he's just wrong when he says it's not great  :-*
The movie is absolutely outstanding. As a massive fan of the original, I was shocked - really shocked - at how much I enjoyed this. I was full of trepidation - feeling like it was just going to be a remake (piano playing in a bar, games on a beach, Mav riding a bike with a chick....but it was a NEW movie. It has so many things from the original in there - but they're either so small as just to make you think "I remember that", or they're done a wee bit differently (it's Dogfighting football on a beach and not volleyball) to make it enough to make you remember but also make it different.
I will be going to see it again - but I've been summoned to Jurassic World:Dominion today so I'll get to the cinema next week again. I am 100% committed to going to see this once a week whilst it's in the cinemas.
JH - and anyone else with DCS - get ready to fire that game up - this just makes you want to fly again.
It's simply outstanding. Don't listen to me...

Can we also agree that at 59, Tom Cruise has still got it?

hmmmm?
I sneaked out last week and saw a really late showing.
My feelings on the movie can be summed up in three distinct levels.
First - Objectively speaking on the most superficial of levels, the film is just average. If I want to be generous, it's a little above average. However, it lost points in my view due to a really silly plot, a no name enemy that fails to lend any gravity or seriousness to the combat and too many liberties taken with actual procedures and operations. In addition, the characters were just way too over the top, even by the standards of the original film. The pilots were all Topgun graduates and were supposed to be the best of the best, but their behavior was much closer to a Hollywood caricature, than anything approaching the actual demeanor of professional military pilots.
Second - Despite the overall weak plot, there was a very sincere attempt to capture the magic of the original film and to honor it in genuine ways. This was done mostly by weaving memories and scenes of the original cast, their characters and even some of the aircraft into the new film, by largely respecting the original movie and by not altering the past in order to suit new audiences and standards. These efforts did not come off as lazy or gimmicky to me, and as a result, the film was exciting and moved up several notches. It is almost like a game that is based on a popular IP. If done right, even if its components are average, the sum turns out to be much greater than the individual parts.
Third and finally - As I mentioned previously, the original Top Gun changed my life. It grabbed my imagination and never let go. This movie, from the very beginning, brought me right back to the time when I was a little 9-year old boy, captivated by the beauty and power of the aircraft and awestruck by the men who flew them. It brought me back to a time where the dream of flight was right at my fingertips and the possibility of flying fighter jets was still possible and within my reach. Honestly, at times, particularly early on in the film, I was choked up and actually had to hold back tears. The film's success in drawing out those feelings and memories, in ways, makes it an epic experience. Some will understand what I mean, but many will not, as this is something that is extremely subjective and personal.
...oh and yes, JD is absolutely correct...it made me want to suit up and fly Hornets and Tomcats in DCS.
You tear up?
I thought the movie was entertaining and actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I wouldn't say that I loved it, but rather really liked it. I would certainly go back and watch it again. The one thing that I found hard to swallow was some of the fighter action at the end. I kinda expected an engagement looking something more like the below..... But overall, the movie was a pleasantly entertaining and my wife liked it to....
the ribbon tape was the best part. :bd:

Looking forward to eventually watching it on PPV.
