Being married to a Newfoundlander, I know this story.  My father-in-law told me all about Mr. Phillips and his WWII Newfoundland encounter.

I saw a tweet from the WWII museum but was unfamiliar with his story and hadn't looked into it yet.

It's true!  But there are some pet peeves.  She says "up-and-commance" instead of "comeuppance".  She refuses to be corrected as it is perfectly acceptable Newfinese.  ???
