Just saw a Facebook post that John Tiller games are 25% off until 12/31/19...any size order. Haven't checked it out yet to verify it's fact. (lots of false postings on Facebook)
I don't think it is true. I just purchased Wolfpack yesterday, for no discount. I just checked, and it is still listed at full price at the JT store

Probably 'fake news'...nothing on their home page and the two links on the Facebook post time out to nothing. It sounded to good to be true.

Just went out to their website and that sale doesn't exist. However, there are a few specials going on. Check the "News" section for info. I ignore Facebook as it is a waste of time for anybody outside of my circle of friends.
I very much think is true...saw this posted on other site. I tried it on a test game and worked fine. When paying by paypal, don't choose the pay paypal option on the first cart screen. Instead choose option to Proceed to Checkout and you'll still have the option to pay by Paypal or credit card but you need to go there to see discount.
All, linked below you will find a discount link to the JTS Store. This is being created specifically to recognize the On-line community and the guys who keep it active. This can be shared in other On-line clubs as well, and I'll share it in the few I have access to. I'm not sending it out in a mass mailing...
It will give you a 25% discount on any sized order from our store. It can only be used once per customer and it expires on 12/31/2019.
https://john-tiller-software.myshopify.com/discount/On-line
You can also simply enter the discount code On-line at check out and the discount will be taken.
Enjoy, and thanks for your activity in the On-line community. Hope everyone has a good holiday season.

You get the feeling they were trying to keep this low key. Not as much of a formal sale as a discount offered to what is probably the core consumers of JTS games.
I'm good with that. Picked up Midway at long last.

Would be interested in Shenandoah thoughts.....I know probably very much the same as other Civil War titles but thought I read somewhere the battles were smaller and much more manageable than moving a ton of counters around. More up my alley if true:)

This is correct...not my intent to necessarily block others from it, but to give something to the guys who consistently support us over the years. With that said, if someone sees it, they can take advantage of it...
And then maybe consider digging further into the on-line community that exists for the Tiller games... http://www.johntillersoftware.com/Resources.php

I bought it when it first came out, and was not impressed with JT's "Naval Campaign" system. I bought "Wolfpack" only because it is the only game I know of that allows you do do WWII ASW. A better game dealing with WWI naval combat (IMHO) is the "Steam and Iron" system from NWS:

Used the discount for "Wolfpack". The ability to play as the ASW force,

I agree with Mark, North Africa probably has your lowest counter density of the three.
I'll probably pick up a title of two before it expires. Looking to try a civil war title for the first time. Gettysburg is what I'm thinking as that's the battle i know the most about, are there plenty of medium or small scenarios or are they all big/ huge variety. Those new maps look good.

Gettysburg has plenty of small to medium scenarios to play. Really good game.
Thank you
Anybody have any recommendations for the most accessible game in this collection? I simply don't have the time and energy to dedicate to the hobby these days, but would love an enjoyable easy title (preferably WW II). One of the Panzer Battles series?
There are demos available for the Panzer Battles, Panzer Campaigns, and Napoleonic series that you can try. Personally I find the Squad Battles series the easiest to get into.
There's a demo for the SB series as well - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/Demos.php

A lot depends on scale that interests you most... there's 4 scales to choose from in the WWII topics:
Strategic - WWII In Europe - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/StrategicWar.html
Operational - Panzer Campaigns - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/PanzerCampaigns.html
Grand Tactical - Panzer Battles - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/PanzerBattles.html
Tactical - Squad Battles - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/SquadBattles.html
Given your criteria I would direct you to the Squad Battles series, specifically Red Victory or Eagles Strike to start - and then the Panzer Battles games would be the next in line.

I meant to thank you blokes for all the suggestions, but ran into some PC difficulties and couldn't log in to my account here for a couple days. Your guidance is much appreciated!!
I want to publically recognize the quality customer service I received recently from Rich Hamilton and John Tiller Software. Rich quickly responded to my query about updates for some older John Tiller games I purchased on CD from HPS several years ago. After confirming I was in their customer database, Rich provided me with codes that allowed me to apply the updates to my old games or just download and install the newest versions of the updated games. He also helped me recover a download for a game I'd purchased in 2012 from JTS even though I had later lost that download/install file.
If you're the least bit interested in JTS-style wargames, I recommend you take the time to download and play the aforementioned demos. Follow the Getting Started guides for the introductory scenarios to help you get a basic understanding of the mechanics involved for whichever setting and level of operations you chose. And take a look at the game manuals/guides, too.
I walked away from the old JTS games I bought several years ago a bit frustrated because I didn't take time to learn how to use the command system and interface to affect sound tactacal and operational maneuvers and fires in those games. But after watching some good YouTube videos on JTS games and spending more time reading the manuals, I'm not so apt to leave my fireteams just standing around on the battlefield in Squad Battles. Bounding movement techniques through covered terrain, dropping smoke rounds for concealment, and pressing the get down on the ground button greatly increase the survivability of your troops in Squad Battles. Similarly, learning when to use traveling mode and when not to use it can make a big difference in some of the higher level tactical JTS games.
I was so pleased with rediscovering these updated games and impressed with JTS customer care, that I spent a good chunk of my Christmas gift money on some of the JTS games that are on sale. After subtracting the online discount that JTS is also currently offering, I think I've made my gaming dollars go far and set myself up for hours of interesting fun with my new and old JTS wargame titles in the coming new year.
I've been thinking about figuring out the process to update the old Squad Battles games I have on CD. After learning that they were recently updated, I dug out all my old CDs. I guess you just open a ticket on the JTS website?
Send a note to JTS Support with the games you have and Rich will check to see if you are in the customer database. If not you can send a picture of the CDs and that will work. He will send you the patches of download links you need. Rich is the best!

+1 to Rich being the man. Totally just hooked me up. Got a uber-fast response to my request for download links to my fairly large John Tiller CD collection and after providing a photo of the CD jewels got all the links and codes.
Definitely made my weekend...and I hope its no secret, but he mentioned that updates to the Modern Campaign series are literally right around the corner! <:-)
Got a gift certificate for Christmas, used the certificate, the discount code and threw a few extra dollars to pick up Gettysburg, France 14, Panzer Battles North Africa, and The First Blitzkrieg. Tried out Gettysburg and First Blitzkrieg, love those new civil war maps, and found an alternate map for TFB that looks good off the SDC site. Wonder if they are redoing the two strategic games, or if there going to make more? Interesting air mechanics. I wonder why in the scenario listing for TFB a few are listed as 1 turn, like the invasion of Poland and France. When you start the scenario there is a date range at the bottom but strange there listed as 1 turn in the scenario selection box. Gettysburg looks like there's enough play for a lifetime, especially after I installed those 20,000 scenarios from the SDC site, there alternates to all the stock scenarios but still looks like every alternate at Gettysburg is covered.
Thanks for posting the video link for the civil war games. Read the manual but still wonder about the extent of the commander control setting. Do you just control the commanders, not moving and shooting with every unit?
You'll move and shoot each individual unit. When they talk about command and control, which is a feature present in most of the games, they are referring to keeping the units in command range of their leaders. So in Gettysburg you'll want to keep the regiments in range of their brigade commanders, the brigade commanders in range of their division commanders, division commanders in range of their Corps commanders, and Corp commanders in range of army commanders. Doing so will help keep your units from routing or help them pass morale checks and recovering from disruption. Be very careful about putting anyone above brigade commanders in me less because a leaders loss above brigade commanders caused some problems as leaders are promoted up the chain with the worst possible ratings. When you get to where you feel like giving PBEM a whirl drop me a line. Helped many a rookie along in my day.

You sure about that? Pretty sure command and control gives you the ability to issue commands at a leader level, without having to micro manage all units....experts from the manual.
Select Commander Control if you want to have some control over decisions made by certain leaders in the battle. For example, in this mode you can give orders as the Army commander or you may want to take command at a lower level such as Division or Corp. If you make this selection, the Leader Selection Dialog will be displayed so that you can select the leaders you wish to command.
Order Dialog
The Order Dialog is used to view and establish orders for selected commanders when using Commander Control A/I.
The Order Dialog displays a picture of the leader and lists his organization plus each of the subordinate organizations. If you click on one of these organizations, it will be highlighted on the map and the current order for the organization, plus status information, will be displayed in the Order Dialog. The Location is the current hex coordinates of the leader of the selected organization if he is currently on the map. The Size value is the number of men of the organization currently on the map. The Health value is a percentage based on the total effective strength of the organization. Units in the organization of no Fatigue or Low Fatigue are counted full strength towards the total effective strength. Units in the organization of Medium Fatigue are counted half strength towards the total effective strength. Units in the organization of High Fatigue do not count towards the total effective strength. The Health value is the total effective strength as a percentage of total Size. If the selected organization currently has an Order, the type of order is indicated in the Order Type field and the hex coordinates of the objective hex are displayed in the Objective field. The A/I logic of the main program will establish a default order for the Leader's organization. This order may be overridden by the player. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the player to establish orders for each of the suborganizations based on the order for the Leader's organization.
To establish a new order for an organization after it has been selected, first select the Order Type and then click on the map with the right mouse button to establish the Objective for the order.
I was just checking this thread to post a question about converting from the old CDs to the new downloads; I have Campaign Gettysburg and Midway sitting on disk but no CD drive on my computers anymore!
I'm going to try to do the ticket/picture thing and see how it goes. Looking hard at that new Campaign Shenandoah game as well...I don't know if I've ever seen that campaign in a wargame.

It really depends on what theater you prefer and how complex or large you want your scenarios to be. I find that North Africa 1941 hits a sweat spot, personally.
I'd love to see a Panzer Battles game set in a 'Cold War goes Hot' alt-timeline, 1985-95 or so.
In fact, I'd love to see Squad Battles set there even more. O0

We've had 'Armor Battles' on our radar for a long time (since the first Panzer Battles title) and yes it was intended to be a 'Cold War goes Hot' situation.
We actually recently tested that all our new PzB tech worked in the previous iteration of the build and it was a strong affirmative. We just need to find time to actually get it done - with time being the biggest constraint!
