So has anyone played yet?

Anyone?

There are currently 365 reviews on Steam and it has a Mostly Positive rating.  You could read some of them, both good and bad, and get a feel for the game.  There are also probably reviews up on Youtube by now.

A lot of people come here for trusted opinions. I like to think we give more reliable impressions than steam reviews on average. Iím sure Flick is aware there are external sources of review.

Some fleet enzymes would have trouble navigating this as well.

There were too many negative reviews for me to jump on this, and even some of the positive reviews raised points that are of concern. I will get this, but it will be when it is on a modest sale.

Nope - I've got it on my 'watch' list though. On the face of it, it looks great, but I don't want to drop that much on it without waiting to see some more impressions and reviews.

I played the demo back when it may have been just "Lux",  I thought it was the best Risk game that I'd ever tried.  Plays nice and fast and the various AIs seemed pretty good.  I've bought it since on some sale.  Like most digital games I've bought, I haven't gotten around to installing it.  Not sure what's up with that, I need to look back through many emails to find all the games I've bought.  I just don't seem to have much time for gaming anymore.  :'(

Perfect for me. I get an hour of so of gaming at a time...canít spend it doing flight checks and warming up engines. I DO like realistic flight modeling and weapons to some extent. Itís the engine management that gets me

There is more engine management in IL-2 than there is in DCS. Not sure what you are referring too. None of the flight checks done on the ground in DCS are actually necessary. They are included in tutorials for realism, but they can all be skipped. There are also quick start up cheats FYI. Press one button and youíre ready to taxi.

In Il-2 and itís Ilk, I turn off complex engine management. Thatís what Iím sayjng. I want to hit ďeĒ to have the engines on and then throttle. I donít want to have to turn on a battery, then a compressor, wait 2
Minutes for warm up, turn on fuel, start engine A then B, etc

For me, the complexity level of Flaming Cliffs 3 is PERFECT. So, Iím happy to see DCS upgrading it of only to add 2 planes. Frankly, I wish I could get a ďFlaming Cliffs 3Ē style of aircraft for each DCS plane released.

Computer Wargaming / Re: Here Lies Early Access. RIP
« Last post by mikeck on Yesterday at 11:41:08 PM »
I donít think it needs to be held in escrow. Give the devs the cash. But start the ďreturn clockĒ when the game is released and not when I bought early access.
Iím sure there is a concern that- by then- people will be tired of playing and refund it but I donít think so. You give people a quality game and most wont return it even if they are tired of it.

The problem is that if the money isn't held in escrow somehow, it won't be around to make refunds with. What's guaranteeing the refund? Steam credit?

Thatís what I mentioned further down. At release, the devs sand steam are making more money off new sales. THAT  money would be used for refunds. Yes, it is possible that so many people will want refunds vs those who purchase on release and do not but that would mean the game is a disaster and Steam takes a loss.

I just donít see how escrow works here. Money in escrow canít be used. Yet the whole purpose for early access is to raise money to continue developing.
If I canít get to that money, why do it?
