What's that 4X fantasy series with turn-based battles?

It's basically like Civilization but with elves and stuff, and when you get into a battle it enters a turn-based combat. There are three or four of them.

Fallen Enchantress?
Planar Conquest?
Age of Wonders III?

"You know, just once I'd like to meet an alien menace that wasn't immune to bullets."
-Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

"There's a horror movie called Alien? That's really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you!"
-The Doctor

Warlock?

Warlock doesn't have a separate battle mode.  Still enjoyable, though.

Would also add:

Dominions 4

Endless Legend

Sovereignty: Crown Of Kings (maybe -  is it going to get another update sometime?   ??? )

Edit:

I think Fallen Enchantress, and it's later more streamlined sibling Sorceror King, most resemble Sid Meier's Civilization in look and gameplay.  Although I probably prefer Dominions more for it's ridiculous amount of variety and faction flavor.  Or AOW3 for it's more hex-y wargame feel.

Loved me some Age of Wonders II and III. Anyone enjoy Sorceror King?

We can't live under the threat of a c*nt because he's threatening nuclear Armageddon.

I didn't like Fallen Enchantress.  I did like Age of Wonders III and Sovereignty.  I think I played a few hours of Warlock, too, and dug it.

Probably not what OP is referring to...

Anyone remember Sword of Aragon? Really loved that game.

Another one that comes to mind is Master of Magic. You can still get it from GoG.

MD, Bawb, one other person I cannot recall, and I still have an unfinished game of Warlock...lol.

Sounds like Fallen Enchantress or Endless Legend to me.
