I suspect that in all likelihood those Pucaras would have gotten swatted down during their final run-in, and even if not, would probably not gotten many hits with so little run-up practice time. OTOH, the idea of using them to salt the Falkland Sound with Mk12 mines might have given them much more bang for the buck, with the chance of catching the RN off guard when first entering the Sound possibly leading to a few kills or at least Out of Actions.

In Sandy Woodward's account of the naval war, at one point he had to send in his smallest ship (Antelope?) to check out the sound.  Since there was no mine sweepers, the only way to find out if the Argies had mined it was by sending in a sacrificial lamb.

Crazy they didn't have minesweepers. Crazy the Argentinians didn't do anything with the Sound or the surrounding ground. I realise they couldn't have guarded the whole coastline...but taking 50 miles out the equation (the Argentinians didn't have much knowledge of the UK's airlift or transport ability being brought with them), the Sound was prime real estate for a landing.
