Since I don't use a website, a list of links will make it easier to check for updates.

This is current list of links to my mods for John Tiller's Napoleonic Battles.

Although these mods work with both the JTS and HPS versions of the games,if
you only have HPS versions, you should get in touch with support at JTS
software and they will help you convert to the JTS version so you can get
the latest patches.

I don't have time to run a website, but a list of links to the current
updates will do essentially the same thing.

These are graphics-only mods, so your PBEM opponent doesn't need to be using
it for your game to work.

These mods work with the 'new' Napoleonic engine that Tiller has been using
since the beginning of this century (at both HPS and JTS).  They do NOT work on the
old Talonsoft Napoleonic engine from the 90's, or any of its derivatives
(e.g. the Matrix version).

The basic difference between the old and the new engine is that with the new
engine you can play a huge campaign on one gigantic map.  The 3D maps for
the old engine were hand-painted, so gigantic maps were out of the question.
The new engine accomplished the large size by using an algorithim and standardized hexes
whose graphic quality often suffered.

These mods were developed as an attempt to address that problem.

Make sure you back up your originals and read the README files.  Some of

these mods contain two separate mods, so whatever you do, don't download

them directly into your game.

Some of the mods have two links, one to Box and one to Dropbox.  Whenever

there is a choice, always use the Box link because the Dropbox links tend to

point to earlier versions of the mod.

Thanks Philippe. Your mods are the first thing I go looking for when I buy a new Tiller game.

Just so everyone is aware, I have updated my mods for Bautzen, Leipzig, 1814, and Waterloo to harmonize them with the latest official patches.

What that means in real life is that I've added my own version of terrain contours to the two hexside features bitmaps in each game.  The patch shows terrain contours that are alternately bright or in shadow in 2D.  My take on it is that terrain shadows don't belong in a 2D environment.

You still need to toggle the contour outline on to make contours show up properly in 3D (both in the mod and in the original).  The problem now is that the 2D map looks a little odd with the contours turned on, so you need to turn it on in 3D but off in 2D.  Go figure.   Not all innovations are an improvement, and if I end up deciding I hate the contours I'll take them out of the next version of the various mods.

I've only updated the first of the various links that I have listed under each mod.  So always use the box.com link, because the dropbox link (if it even works) is to a much earlier version of the mod.

I havnt got any of the Napoleonic games yet, more mexwar alemein and some others, but I would count myself lucky to see a set of mods like this If I had any Nap games.

I've said it elsewhere, but it bears repeating:

These are an essential part of my enjoyment of these games.  Thank you!

I have just made adjustments to five of my Napoleonic mods.

All of my Napoleonic mods should now work with the JTS as well as the HPS versions of the game.

I am currently suffering from excruciatingly slow upload times, so only the Box links connect to the latest version.  The Dropbox links are there for emergency back-up and connect to much older versions of the mod.

The screenshots probably aren't showing up because they date back to when I still used Imageshack for hosting images.  I don't have time to fix them at the moment, but there are functional screenshots of my mod in the 3rd party art section over at the Blitz.

Thanks for this, Philippe. Had you given any thought to tackling Marengo?

I'd certainly be willing to take a shot at it, but I don't have the budget for it at the moment.

The flag backgrounds for the French would be harder to do because my information on the period is a little sketchier than for the Empire. But it's an important issue because revolutionary regiments used very different flags, and the one size fits all treatment wouldn't be correct.

Have you asked anyone if they will also host your mods, like the Blitz, here at Grogheads, or even JTS?

There is no doubt that your mods are highly valued by the community, and as you don't have a website it will make them more accessible to even more people in the community.

I generally prefer not to have a website.  Making the mods is enough work as it is, and I'd rather not have to worry about administrative issues.  Some people who host your mods feel they have a right to censor what you do, and messing with my artistic freedom gets my nose out of joint very quickly.  Life's too short to waste time on irrelevant distractions.

Last time I looked there were links to my Napoleonic mods at the Blitz, and NWC used to have older versions of them available to members (though why anyone would want outdated versions of my mods is beyond me).

I update my Box account (and my Dropbox account as well, when I feel there is a need and I have the time and the patience), and by doing that I've updated all the posts on different sites with links to my mods, including the ones I've forgotten.

Because of the way it organizes things Grogheads is far from being an ideal site, but I always try to remember to post here for sentimental reasons.  The old Wargamer's method of organizing threads by developer/game was ideal, but that site became toxic long before the new one came along.

The irony here is that by refusing to host your own material, it is actually a validation for the reason that some of your hosting was ended.

Since you're talking about SDC, anyone interested can contact me privately.
