Looks like Ares is finally starting to listen to the community and will start releasing kits based on specific battles/campaigns.

The first one up is the Battle of Britain.

The starter kit will include the basic rules as well as scenarios and special rules based on the conflict.  They're also changing up the way they will release the plane models.  They're going to put out generic planes (in this case, Bf-109Es, Spitfire Mk Is and IIs,  Hurricanes, Ju-87s, and Bf-110s) and include a bunch of decals and guides that will let you customize your collection to reflect certain aces/squadrons.

Ex:  Here are a few sample schemes for Hurricanes from 303 Sqn (Polish).

If Battle of Britain is a success, Midway will be next up and then (possibly) either Kursk or Bombing the Reich.

Added bonus.  If you pre-order from the Wings of Glory Aerodrome you get custom range rulers and squadron specific bases.

This looks very interesting. I'm not huge on miniatures (huge money sink for one) - but looking on Amazon at the Wings of Glory Starter pack - it may be worth a punt (though it's WWI) at £25
