2000 in film was a good year; perhaps not as classic as some, but with some pretty great movies in its own right.

At least there's no overwhelming, obvious winner in this bunch. I think these movies can stand pretty well on their own against each other.

But it's not up to me...it's up to you, so here you go! Watch the trailers and make your selections.

BRACKET ONE: 1 vs 16

1. Cast Away

16. What Lies Beneath

BRACKET TWO: 8 vs. 9

8. O Brother, Where Art Thou?

9. Frequency

BRACKET THREE: 5 vs. 12

5. High Fidelity

12. Titan A.E.

BRACKET FOUR: 4 vs. 13

4. Final Destination

13. Almost Famous

BRACKET FIVE: 6 vs. 11

6. Space Cowboys

11. Traffic

BRACKET SIX: 3 vs. 14

3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

14. Unbreakable

BRACKET SEVEN: 7 vs. 10

7. Gladiator

10. X-Men

BRACKET EIGHT: 2 vs. 15

2. The Perfect Storm

15. Meet The Parents

That's a pretty strong year for movies. It goes at least 5 deep with movies I would be happy to see win

A lot of very good movies on the list. Not sure I would call any of them "great". Not in the sense of all-time great movies.

And no, that isn't meant as a criticism of the choices. Just an observation.

There's at least 2 I'd put in my all-time top 100

Maybe. There's a lot of movies I'd put ahead of those as GOAT.

Apropos of nothing in this thread, I re-watched Casino the other day. That is a movie that stands the test of time. I like it more now than ever.

Still say Goodfellas is better but Joe Pesci is a certified badass in this one.
Insert witty comment here.

Once the voting in closed it would be nice to see the totals for each choice... you know... like MD does in the music ones.  :)

It's not showing up? It should be as the selection says to hide results until voting closes. Maybe that's tied to the clock; I closed voting a bit earlier than the deadline. It might show up in an hour or two.
