There is a substantial minority of the human race that lies awake every night repeating the words "Should Jellicoe – at 7:23 PM off Jutland on May 31, 1916 – have turned away? Or turned TOWARD the German battle fleet?"

Really good review.
"Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out until too late that he's been playing with two queens all along".  Terry Pratchett.

During filming of Airplane, Leslie Nielsen used a whoopee cushion to keep the cast off-balance. Hays said that Nielsen "played that thing like a maestro"

Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

"When all other trusts fail, turn to Flashman." — Abraham Lincoln.

"I have enjoyed very warm relations with my two husbands."
"With your eyes closed?"
"That helped."  Lauren Bacall

Master Chiefs are sneaky, dastardly, and snarky miscreants who thrive on the tears of Ensigns and belly dancers.   Admiral Gerry Bogan.

Toonces

We had two admirals come to the War College and suggest that book.  I got  a copy and read about half of it.  It is absolutely fantastic, especially the part about Jutland.  However, it is a really long book, and I simply did not finish it.

Still...highly recommended.  I do plan on giving it a thorough re-read to completion at some point.  But...well...it's really, really long.
"If you had a chance, right now, to go back in time and stop Hitler, wouldn't you do it?  I mean, I personally wouldn't stop him because I think he's awesome." - Eric Cartman

"Does a watch list mean you are being watched or is it a come on to Toonces?" - Biggs

As the reviewer notes, the middle of the book is about the RN grappling with the technological changes - and the problems of communications.  If you're only interested in the battle, you can skip that part.
It is important to understand the background of the officers, and the way things developed, but not vital to the battle history.

Have it . Read it. Second guessing Jellicoe is pointless. There was a lot more going into his decisions than we'll ever grasp in hindsight.

Jellicoe preserved British dominance in the primary theatre. He did his job.

And Beatty can piss off.

And he also got Troi to wear her duty uniform.  ^-^

-Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

"There's a horror movie called Alien? That's really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you!"
