Not sure if any here recall H. Beam Piper's books. He was a trailblazer in science fiction, and was almost as popular as Heinlein at one time. This site has a sequel download to his most popular work.

Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen is my absolute favorite alternate world book of all time.
A couple of warnings about the ebooks they are selling. Almost all of H. Beam Piper's books are out of copyright and can either be obtained for free or for a nominal charge with an interactive appendix. I think it is worth it to pay a few books for almost everything Piper wrote with an active appendix. What I bought can be found at:
