Title: Site Migration
Post by: Jarhead0331 on April 27, 2012, 09:18:02 AM
Guys, we are migrating the host for the site tonight. We may lose some data that is posted during the migration, so if you post something in this timeframe and it disappears, we apologize in advance.

Thanks for your patience.

Are things done? I haven't posted much today, but I haven't seen any weird timelines from looking around at posts today.

(On the other hand, this particular post "session timed out while posting" despite only typing for 20 seconds, so...)

Jason, since the time stamp on your post shows April 28, 2012, I'd say there is still work to be done...

Still acting goofy tonight.

I'm testing whether logging out and relogging will reset my synch with the forum engine (or something like that).

All:

We are back up, but still working out some kinks. We thank you for your ongoing patience and for sticking with us throughout this ordeal...and believe me, it has been an ordeal.

We have my brother to thank for getting back up. He solved the problem that nobody else could.

Yeah you said it, and my backlog of games I buy but never play had stopped growing...

Good work getting the site back up.

Just for result-reporting sake, I notice there are no advertisements right now, and no feed of the last several posts on the forum (and no feed of the last several articles on the front page).

Aaaaahhhhhhhh! I was totally freaked out when I could not access the forums for a couple of days! I had no clue about what was going on and thought Grogheads had been hacked or something. It also made me realize that I had NO WAY to contact anyone at Grogheads via e-mail to inquire as to the issue. I really think there should be some sort of "contact" e-mail or something on the website main page for people encountering problems, because if you cannot get to the forums, you are dead in the water.

I don't have an I-Phone or a facebook account, although I do have stock in Apple and Facebook via a tech fund.... a nicely performing tech fund :-)
I actually sent a panicky e-mail to Jarhead via the Matrix forums. Who knows if he will ever get it....

Sorry for the frustration. It was really stressful and upsetting for all of us.

Solops, you gotta friend some GH'ers on Steam.  That's how I TCB.

Anyway, I didn't realize how much time I spend on GH until it was gone....wow, that's a lot of extra free time without GH in my life.  Not happy time, mind you.

Of course! -- and returning the forum is a grand victory!  :bd: I didn't even know the recent-post list was "broke". I was wondering if somehow the list had been part of the problem, or if I needed to reset something.

So True! I was having withdrawal symptoms. I was forced to play Warammer II w/ the new DLC 8 to 12 hours a day for three straight days. This is my first break!

Back on topic, what did the most recent error message mean? "The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later."

The site was off for some time last night (Central Standard US), due to that. Or, was this an anti-spam measure to stop people from accessing the site more than x-number of times in a given period of time?

If someone could screenshot it when it happens, that might be helpful. Like Gus, I have not experienced it, and everything in our cPanel looks good.

Nope, I've not seen that one either.
Title: Re: Site Migration
Post by: Staggerwing on November 17, 2018, 04:29:39 PM
I had it a few times last night. There's not much to see, just black text on a white background starting in the upper left.

"The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later." (without quotes)

I'll try a screenie if it happens again in case the URL has anything helpful. Note to anyone else doing the same- you'll probably have to highlight the URL in case the full thing doesn't show, maybe even copy-paste it into your reply.

Post by: Jarhead0331 on November 17, 2018, 08:26:16 PM
The forum being down was very frustrating and personal for me.  I spend literally hours on the phone trying to get it sorted with GoDaddy "support". At one point, I was even on the phone arguing with them at 4 in the morning.  I put support in quotes because the term is extremely loose where GoDaddy is concerned. They broke the forum and took no responsibility to get it fixed.

It's amazing how my brother was able to get it up and running in about half an hour. Anyway, I'm glad we're back and am looking forward to things getting back to normal.

You should make your brother a partner; between the huge Grogheads salary, executive washroom key, exclusive parking spot and....oh yeah!....and the hookers, who could resist such an offer?

Not seeing any errors but the site takes a whole lot more time to load than it did before.
Title: Re: Site Migration
Post by: JasonPratt on November 22, 2018, 07:51:44 PM
I've noticed the load times improving recently.

Back earlier this week there was a temporary lapse of service, for me, which amounted to resources being something something'd again. I mean it was another lack of resources message, but I don't recall it being the same one as before? I wasn't where I could snapshot it, or copy-paste it for later.

I'm working on it. I tried to add it, but it didn't take. We have some underlying issues that are restricticting our capabilities in terms of Add-on options. These problems are fundamental and very difficult to resolve without jeopardizing the overall functionality of the forum.
