There can be 50 - 60 chit pulls for a single convoy encounter. A single click of the mouse draws and places each counter in Vassal. A single click on the End Combat button when done and all of the counters are cleared and placed in the appropriate draw cup. There are four different combat mats with Steel Wolves, so spared from lots of shuffling as well this way

Very nice setup. I'll have to give Vassal a shot. I've tried done a few single boat patrols, and intentionally limited myself to a few ship convoys because laying out all of the chits became tedious after awhile.

I do like the extra detail in this kind of convoy setup, compared to The Hunter's much simpler portrayal.  Especially regarding escorts.

I am reading Steel Wolves rules now.  I have to say I am impressed with the level of detail in combat resolution.

Also as a side note, I also like how the rules have quite a bit of commentary inserted directly into the rules.  Basically explanations of how the mechanics relate to history, limitations on attacking escorts for example.  Most rules I have read put this type of information at the end, in "designers notes".  But I find Steel Wolves approach more helpful when these comments are in the text of the rules themselves.

The author used the same method in the B-29 Superfortress manual and it made much more sense.
