Goshdammit.  It probably is a hoax.

By the way, Fluckey's book, Fire Down Below, is a great read if you are at all interested in submarine warfare.

The article about the German saboteurs says nothing about a sub making it to the Niagara Falls, nor anywhere near.

The Barb didn't sink a train. Nor did the Barb destroy a train. Nor did the Barb even attack a train. Crew from the Barb did destroy a train (with explosive sabotage on the tracks.) It would have admittedly been possible for the Barb to attack and destroy a train (at some point anyway), because she was the first American submarine (the first ever?) fitted with rocket artillery.

I should add that the story about the teams infiltrating the North and South United States for terrorism plans, was amazing, too. Just not, y'know, a sub at Niagara Falls. ;)

The thing that I find really amazing about the German weather station set up on the coast of Labrador is the fact that no one, not one single person in the Canadian military knew about it until 35 years later, when the German who put it there asked what had happened to it.  It boggles the imagination.  I mean, just think about what else could have been hiding there for 40 years!
