Title: I know your name is FRIDAY
Post by: MetalDog on November 22, 2019, 06:39:59 AM

Just one of the all time greatest songs!   \m/ \m/ \m/

I've got two pbem Field of Glory:Empire games going.  Along with a host of Grogs in the first one, I am Belgae.  I just had my capitol taken by Aedui.  And I don't think I have the army to be able to recapture it.  We shall see.  The other game, with W8 and Tuna, I am Arverni.  I  am much more secure in my borders, but, my Infrastructure is low and that is  impeding my ability to build food producing buildings.  And I am low on food in many territories.  Stay tuned.

Really enjoying the Age of Empires 2 - Definitive Edition. Been playing big random map games as the Slavs, one of the new factions. The new AI has kicked my ass twice already! Also completed the William Wallace tutorial campaign to get back into the swing of things and for old time's sake. Will also be firing up Kingdom Come and Ancestor's Legacy very soon.

Time to fill DC with the bodies of the baddies.

I'm off until Sunday.

Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.   Had to restart, now much more wiser and not rushing things.

At least that's what I can figure out.

That's pretty advanced. I'll get back to this one day. i'm just not very good at it and usually die alot, the combat is hard, at least for me. The UI is a bit frustrating for me as i remember.

Playing wise, 3 pbem games going, BA, BA2, FOG2, there all turning out to be great battles. In BA, we've swapped VP's and are about to clash around a bridge, I've got the British, he's got the Panther  :wow: BA2 Russian and Germans battling in a large city, so far i've scouted out he has 2 panthers and 1 Tiger, at those prices he can't have much more armor. In FOG2 i'm up against the Romans again for the third time, first two were loses, but i'm getting a little better so we'll see how this one turns out.

After the new patch i'll restart Warplan as Germany

Picked up Doom 2016, about halfway through already, so might get to the finish line this weekend.

budd...I had the same experience, the combat was very difficult so I finally moved on to something else. This was disappointing because the game was well crafted, good story and the closest thing to the old great Fallout 1 that I've come across so far.

Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying it.  FYI, the June-July 1861 move(s) are done and written, so you should be seeing those in the near future.  I'm starting the next moves now.

Hopefully try out WarPlan. I just got Death Stranding in the mail, so I want to give it a go. Also, some CoD Modern Warfare for mindless fun.

And finally, in honor of Chad Jensen, I want to look over my Combat Commander  rules again and set up a scenario for next weekend.

Have a safe weekend and happy gaming, Grogs!

Watching Penn State vs. Ohio State. My late parents both went to Penn State. This game has been an EVENT for a very long time.

Winterize the lawn mower and gas up and check out the snow blower.

I've been mucking about with Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. Might try to put some time into that this weekend.

It's going to be crazy at work the next couple days, so I won't have much time for gaming this weekend.  Probably just the usual Stellaris and/or Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, maybe Battletech (now that the Heavy Metal DLC has dropped).

Going to (hopefully) sign a contract on a house tomorrow. We had been looking for some time and I am nervous as hell. I never get anxiety but I feel like some impending doom is about to befall me. ???

It is such a hot market that things stay on for a day or two before they are snatched up.

The wife says things will work out the way they are supposed to work out. Maybe she's right?

An elderly couple owned the house before passing it on to the current owner who lived in it for 2 years (im sure to avoid capital gains). It was built by him and his sons as they were local builders.  It needs updating inside. Things like flooring and paint etc and the yard needs some attention. But I'm in construction (floor layer) and have built some things such as our cabin on the lake, so it's all within my wheelhouse. The detached 3 car garage has a 1 bedroom apartment/mother in law suite with kitchen, bathroom and w/d/ hookups. I imagine I'll use it as a guest house. The home is small, but we are empty nesters and don't want to take care of any more space than we need. It sits 0n 15.9 acres in Missouri's waterways just a couple miles from the Upper Meramec river.

We will wait until next Spring to sell and will probably sell our cabin too as there is no need to go to the country when we will be living back in the country. Get back Honkey Cat.

On tap is EU4, AAR, and ISG.  Maybe UofC II.

Have been playing Master of Orion 3 all week but the Klackons are crushing me. No chances to win this campaign. I think i'll have to start a new one or a new Birth of the Federation campaign.

Tomorrow, i want to play Waterloo: Napoleon's last battle.

Credence, Lookin out my back door maybe? Peaceful easy feeling? Maybe even Sweetleaf. I'm open for suggestions.

Hope all goes well. The funny thing is we looked at the house online before it was quickly under contract. My wife woke up Tuesday in the middle of the night with the page open for that house again and showing back on market. She liked it from the get go. I needed a little more reassurance. She thinks it was meant to be and since she lives a peaceful existence, unlike my slug and grind, I'm going to follow her lead. Hers is a simplistic approach to lifes challenges. I envy her confidence. Me? I second guess everything.

Credence isn't loud enough.  The Eagles are the Eagles (bleh).  A beer is the wrong soporific for Sweet Leaf, but you're on the right track ;)  Close to the Edge maybe?  Songs From the Wood?

OK, its got to be a clear starry night and the beer has to be cold. I'm thinking putting some speakers out on the deck and maybe as you crack your third beer put this on....LOUD.....AAAAAAA...feel the tranquility.

Or go with scaring the shit out of the forest animals, song finishes strong

The fact that I'm still awake at 1:30 and I need to be up at 5:00 says everything that needs to be said about me right now.  All good suggestions. Edited out my videos because I think Ive hijacked this thread too much. Geez. Now I'm even second guessing my posts.......

I think I'll save Planet Caravan for when I want to eat me a batch of those country shrooms and hide from the shadows.

But I did notice that my awesomely powerful laptop sounds like its speaker plays through an aluminum can under a pillow in the next room.

p.s., Make that 2:00 now. The missus? Sound asleep next to me. I feel like waking her with a shake just because....well...just because.

A little update. We did sign a contract with very agreeable terms. Closing will be in 7 weeks because of the holidays but we are in good shape there. This second showing allowed us to spend some time looking at everything in better detail and picking out deficiencies. With that said, I believe we found the home we have always wanted and some $$$$$, time and effort will only improve upon some great bones. Hate the flooring and paint but those will go. The property is beautiful with deer ruts everywhere.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Lost in the woods. Hilarious. I've heard that place is hell only 2 times a year; All Winter and All Summer.

We used to float The Big Piney near there and I remember well the sounds of artillery exploding in the distance.

Lived a few miles down the road from Ft. Jackson while getting my Ph.D.  After a while I could discern the difference between artillery and thunder.

Columbia, SC is horrible in the summer.

Nah its not so bad. People hate it more because they're there during basic/AIT more than anything else.

By the way, it was most likely the combat engineers blowing stuff up that you were hearing instead of artillery. FLW is where the Army trains all of its combat engineers.

I'm not sure how anyone can not love the Eagles. They are as American as orange sherbet. Or even apple pie.

My wife thought she saw a dead bald eagle today on the side of the road. She was so upset. On the return trip we noticed it was a skin off a tire with a white grocery bag attached. Time for new contacts I think.

sheesh

When I was there they had an artillery range and did a lot of practice.  One of my fellow grad students was a National Guard officer in arty and did his practice there.  It was way too regular for anything other than arty.  We did hear occasional loud "booms" which is probably the engineers of which you spoke of.

Basic training, Tank Hill, Fort Jackson, summer of 1983.  I can look back on it with some nostalgia now but at the time it was a pretty miserable experience ..........

Interesting. That must have been well before my time. Now all arty training is done at Ft Sill, OK. FLW is mostly combat engineers, military police, and chemical warfare training now, along with a few other things.
