A fantastic cover of a fantastic song...
Well, another uncertain weekend gameplay-wise. Been playing Total War Warhammer II again, lately. Also, the new version of the StarWars Galaxy at War mod for Men at War AS2 has been released after years of waiting, so I'll mess around with that too. I definitely want to play something sci Fi or Space 4x...just not sure what....anyway, everybody enjoy.

You can't go wrong with poor ole Kurt (sniff, sniff)
Yep. Definitely some War thunder, but other than that and a board game or two...I'm not sure what else.
Grog PBEM Civ VI is finally underway. Should be interesting.
Deep into a Stellaris campaign as the Federation in the Star Trek mod. This mod is incredibly deep. Really want to try the Klingons next.
Got Warfighter Modern on the table continuing a campaign.
Final bit of yard work before winter sets in for good.
Should actually have more time for stuff this weekend weather depending.
spider man, witcher 3, and stardew valley are in the plans. Maybe some endless legend / space2 but I'm finding I'm getting kinda bogged down in the middle late game. Gonna check out some YouTube to see if I'm missing something
Oh and hopefully some boardgaming with my girls.
Out of town to spend time with the Uncle this weekend, so no full-bore (or any) gaming to be had. :(
On the plus side, I just picked up Insurgency: Sandstorm so I'll get to wrap my mitts on that bad boy next week. :D
Have fun, folks!
0.) My hunt for my Solium Infernum disc shall finally start in earnest this afternoon! <:-) I appreciate the patience of everyone else in the mp game (Ysk's thread for which can be found here: http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=23037.0).
1.) My AoW3: Eternal Lords match against (or possibly with) Ysk and a set of AI opponents, has kicked off this week and I'm super-pleased to be finally playing it! (I've played AoW:2 Shadow Something a lot, and even several multiplayer matches long ago, but not much AoW3 and no mp there yet.)
2.) My Strategic Command: Classic match against Shelldrake has entered the Soviets-invading-Britain phase, which I will assume means my overall strategic theory may be experimentally dis-verified. :buck2: Whether I can recover from this 'setback' remains to be seen....
3.) The GROGPUBLIC forum game has entered their Italian Era, which currently means mopping up a lingering border war from the Latin Era, with the Aequians over in the Apennine mountains. (...it's Friday and I have no idea if I spelled that mountain range in central Italy correctly. :-[ ) Two player slots remain for anyone who wants to join in!
4.) Chugging along on Shadow of War, though not much this week. I should finish out the Gorgoroth area, which will leave some area in the hinterland that the undead elf says doesn't matter to anyone. ::)
Unless I am totally losing my mind, JH - you've used this song before. Not that I have an issue with it because I enjoy Kurt Cobain's version even more than the original.
This weekend without any prior planning or forethought I am going to dive in to some Field of Glory II - Age of Belisarius and also start an Attila: Total War campaign as the White Huns. May also start an Avars campaign if I can figure out which era they appear in.
Halloween has left me exhausted this year so I am setting aside my Warhammer Total War campaign as the Vampire Counts after 115 turns. I enjoyed the vampires even more than the Tomb Kings or Norsca so i will definitely return to it at some point.
I've started a new game of Horizon. I want to complete one of the main quests to win the game (Kor'Tahz or Varaians). Also playing some Sins of Solar Empire: Rebellion. Also the CIV IV Pbem game. If i have enough time, i'll play also some Polaris Sector and Aggressors: Ancient Rome.
As i am travelling by train to go to work, i play on my tablet. Last week i finished the Shinari campaign in Imperium Galactica II and am currentely playing Space Captain by Malfador...nice and challenging (i am at mission 11 of 37 i think).

It is quite possible. In case, I leave you with this...
Not much gaming time this weekend for me... family obligations. :hide: But I will definitely try to get in some more Rome 2 with the DEI mod now that it's working again. Here's a screenie of my Campanian Elite Hoplite Infantry in their 'Hold Position' formation. And maybe some Battle Academy if I have a few minutes to kill. Have a great weekend Grogs.
AoW 3 Pbem with Jason. My first turn wiped my starting army, so I am losing the initiative here. The AI is brutal (if you don't really know what you are doing yet)!
If Jason finds his disc then Solium Infernum will kick off.
In the mean time my Dutch empire has seen the dawn in Civ 6.
And my (AFK) adventures in BDO have been re-ignited by Huw.
On the table lies Warfighter Modern which I am gradually teaching to my boy.
Lake of Fire...another great one!
Packing and moving :(
I'd rather have my man ammunition depot kicked, if you know what I mean.

Wow! Nice Hoplites!
Warframe - of course!
Black Desert Online - got to reach the "awakening" soon and get my shiny new super sword (or whatever it is I will get)
Ni No Kuni 2 - Revenant Kingdom - early birthday present. I started it last night. Looks charming enough but I didn't do much more than the prologue. I'm looking forward to seeing what exactly this game has to offer.
Have a good weekend everyone!
The first game I'm playing tonight after I get out of work is "Daddy protects 14 year old daughter from boyfriend with baseball bat."
Well not really but I am chaperoning movie night at my house in which my 14 year old daughter has invited her first real 'boyfriend' over to watch movies. Actually I've met him and he seems like a fine young man but as all fathers of daughters know, no boy is good enough for daughter.
Anyway....I plan on squeezing in some, but not a lot, of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Then I've got a good game of Stellaris vanilla going on to warm up for the new Star Trek Mod that Barthheart mentioned above.
And finally I'm going to setup one of my board games and stare at it on the table for a while. Don't know what I'll be attempting to solo but I will set something up. More to follow....
Not that I'll ever need them because my daughters are never dating, but please take copious detailed notes.
^+1...the horror...the horror...
Yes, the horror! I'll definitely be taking notes tonight and will share.
I know you two have little ones of your own. Enjoy them while they're still young. Once they hit the teen years you know what happens.

Phantom doctrine. I think another influence on the game is the game called Invisible. At the moment Phantom Doctrine seems more entertaining than either Invisible or Xcom ever was. My character arrived with a folding stock M14 which seems odd. Plus of course nothing looks 80s...it all looks derived from Hollywood over the last 80 years (well there's your 80s ) -- but that's okay. I kind of like the lack of any sign of any art direction -- except for some kind of derivation from movies.
My daughters are 10 and 12...danger lurks. Everywhere.
Glad I had boys!
Though, I guess it would've been nice to have a daughter.. as long as she skipped age 11-21.
Get my PBEM files answered, do some playtesting for JTS, and hopefully spend more time on my Flashpoint Campaign Red Storm AAR. Had one daughter and being 6'3'' and 300 lbs went a long way to keeping the boyfriends on the straight and narrow. Plus they always seemed to choose to come over when I was cleaning my shotgun.

Just don't get game one and game two muddled up
Holy shit, Yazzy. Solium Infernum...now that's a game I'd forgotten all about! I wonder if I can still download it...gosh, I forgot I even had that guy's games.

Blasphemy!!!
:tickedoff: >:( :tickedoff:
One of my fave songs ever. Nirvana's cover is great, but compared to Bowie himself?? No contest.
Huge gaming funk the past couple of weeks. Don't seem to have the mental capacity or interest to get into anything.... :(
Although I did like that Metal Gear Solid V opens with this song... even if it is the somewhat cheesy 80s synth cover. Maybe I should fire that up....

JOOOINNNNN USSSSSSS!
{...uh, still looking for my CD}
I'm here for y'all. My daughter is 25. O0
And Bowie ALWAYS trumps Nirvana :tickedoff:
You old farts can knock Cobain all you want...for that particular song I like his version better. It's not like I said 'I Prefer Right Said Fred over Bowie.'
The way to handle daughter problems is to live long enough until they have daughters causing them problems and then just sit back and laugh your ass off. <:-) But for the present, a healthy dose of Saltpeter in the boyfriend's drink you serve him will help you sleep better at night. O0

My beef with Kurt is well documented. As I grow older, I find much less vitriol behind it. The reason still remains. I know he's a hero and icon to millions and I respect that. Bowie still wins though ;)
Yeah, Toonz! Definately join us schemin' Denons!

My daughters are 10 and 12...danger lurks. Everywhere.
My daughter is 8. She has a thing about one boy (boy A) and another that she wants to beat up (boy B). So on Halloween she was Athena, but left her spear at home, so when she caught boy B dressed as a Roman soldier in a crowd of ancient-themed tricker-treaters she was mourning for her absent spear when she spotted boy A -- a very tall 8-year-old in a Ninja suit -- they ran toward each other calling each other's names while a whole street of hundreds (Halloween is a mob-scene in downtown Boone) watched and held their breath. The two collided in an strong embrace. the boy lost both his swords and the girl (my daughter)'s helmet popped off. She tried to enlist boy A in her vendetta, but he claimed he had better things to do and I said we should go back to the haunted house now that the shift had changed and the candy-supplies were restocked -- so we did that and boy B escaped.
So ...hmmm...
Good AAR.
I'm at Blizzcon in Anaheim this weekend. So doing lots of stuff gaming related but not much gaming. Have played a little Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch. Also picked on Diablo 3 for the Switch yesterday. I got a few minutes with it last night, my initial impression is it plays pretty well, but haven't played it enough for a definitive opinion. Although I am biased given how much Diablo 3 I play on PC.
Meanwhile, Gus helps our odds calculations in the Grogpublic this weekend, sort of: http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=22942.msg634823#msg634823
My grand daughters like to use green playdoh to use as 'boogers' and pretend to sneeze them on people. It's great to see Family Traditions continuing.

As a reminder, here's the forum thread (which also features a link to the most recent patch, 1.08c).
As long as you still have the key he mailed you originally, he'll send you the game. It's only a few hundred Megs.
Well I survived movie night. The boy was very polite and actually held a conversation with me. Nothing else happened except for movie watching. I know because I conducted covert ops monitoring the family room. Heh heh!
That's the spirit W8. The old Bug-In-The-Flowerplant Trick?

#13 should read, "...I have a shotgun, a shovel, and a patio waiting to be built" - you don't want to ruin all the hard work of making one just to dig it up again.
Ironically, I just played the Helm Hammerhand mission in Shadow of War, and this topic turned out to be pertinent... :o
When I was young, the only T-shirts I paid attention to were the ones she was wearing. I think I remember hearing the sound of ammunition boxes being opened a few times I showed up for a date.
Ended up playing mostly WH40K Inquisitor Martyr. This wasn't even on my radar going into the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see how polished it's become since the last time I played late in its early access/beta cycle. I enjoyed it, but can see how the missions are getting very repetitive. Still, the push for higher level loot and to level up your character gives it that one more mission addictive quality.
It's definitrly not for everyone, but if you like WH40K and diablo type games, it's probably worth a shot.
Began a Hun campaign in Field of Glory II. Hope to start an Avar campaign in Attila: TW (they appear in the Charlemagne dlc).
Lots of Spider-Man and Destiny 2 for me.
Geralt looks at me with an angry stare as he is ignored another weekend.

He told me about his upcoming soccer games. He's on the junior varsity team for the high school. And then we talked a little about the Red Sox and that's pretty much it. What I appreciated was the fact he paid respect to me.
@MikeGER
Love that T-shirt! I would buy one immediately if it was on the Grogs store. O0
So I've jumped back in to Field of Glory II and I'll be dipped in poo if it isn't kicking my ass. Until now I was decent enough at this game and could eek out wins in battles and campaigns set at the 2nd and 3rd difficulty levels. I've started playing a Hun campaign and after three tries at the second mission, the AI slaughters me as the Goths every single damned time. I don't remember if this is a community-made campaign or if it was made by the developers, but either way it is giving me nightmares about Gothic lancers.
