Title: The Uber Flashpoint Campaigns Bug-Reporting Thread
Post by: bayonetbrant on January 09, 2015, 06:45:13 PM
Alright folks, this is a brand-spanking-new FPCRS thread, dedicated to reporting of bugs or defects in the code, or communicating 'fixes' to the developers.  This is NOT for the discussions of gameplay: tactics, features, scenarios, history, units & capabilities, etc.  Game-related posts will be moved to the appropriate thread here (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=12316).  If we have to repeatedly move posts out of the wrong thread too often, folks will start to get a vacation.

For historical purposes, the original discussion thread is here (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=7155.0), but it is locked.  Do not carry over any non-game discussions from the previous thread.  Leave it alone.
The other other thread is here (http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=11792.0), and also locked.  Same rules.

Thanks Brant! We'll keep an eye out here for tech issues.

Does the lack of any more bugs being reported mean that the patch is finished and that the game will have reached the rarefied level of Grog Nirvana?

Thanks
Con

No, it indicates that the primary bug-reporter had taken a break from reporting for the moment

No we are still working on things this week related to a Steam login issue that appears to lock up games with non-steam players if the login system hiccups.  :knuppel2:

So, I got a new laptop, and want to install FP on it.  I go out to Matrix's website, but I don't see how I can download it again.  I see DW games, but not FP.  What am I missing.

Did you save the install file from the first d/l?

I think you can 'upgrade' to the full version from the contest version here

I think so.  It's on my old computer so I'll have to look.

Then all you will need is your serial/key if you can find your original confirmation email from Matrix when you bought the game.

I found the d/l.  I did find the SN on their web site, there just wasn't a way to d/l from there.

I need to find out why there is no way to download with a registered serial number. I'll let you guys know what I find.

Does FP:RS not work with windows 8.1.

When I run, it says that DirectPlay is needed.  When I try to install, it fails.  I just retried it and it installed successfully, so now it looks like it will work.

Surprised that usenet was still around.  After reading a few posts I can see that nothing has changed.

Depends on how long it takes Vinny the Puppet to migrate over there. That's when things tend to completely collapse. No thread can handle the pair of them.

Oh the Internet, you'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy... I'm pretty sure someone famous said that. All you can do is deal with people and sites you trust. I personally know the folks running both the Matrix site and GrogHeads and trust what they say and do. I know and trust the opinions of a number of folks on those sites. After that, don't know and really don't care. I have too many other import real world things to deal with. I treat the online world like I do the real one. You get a level of trust and respect to start with. You can build it up over time with words and actions. Break it, and it goes away and never comes back. Simple rule. Less complicated than Gibbs system.

That said. Getting back to work.  O0

I spent an entertaining hour reading those messages...it was delightful

The paranoia, self justification, attention whoring, humble bragging and down right schadenfreude some people have in hoping that our hobby fails.  It reminds me of reading the comments section after any Patriots football item is posted on ESPN.  The oceans of tears of these passionately clueless dimwits taste delicious.

PS I was only exposed to some of the GH and Matrix forum posts; this brings a more richer vibrant texture to the whole sad disproportional response to not liking a game to a new level
