After a couple of play throughs of Republic of Rome I ran across the Print and Play - The Republic of Carthage which can be played as a standalone or as an expansion to The Republic of Rome.  I've looked through the rule book and will soon print out the game and give it a run though.  It could be a good chance to experience Republic of Rome without having to make a monetary investment.  I also found a video from Calandale and he gave favorable remarks about the game and I respect his opinion of games as he always gives an thourugh and meaningful review.  Check it out at the link below.

Good to hear the game has caught your interest. Just curious if you ever played and if you did, how it went?
The Founding Fathers: Offices & Statesmen expansion is now available at The Game Crafter. See http://spotlightongames.com/rules/Ff/

Honestly I have not delved too deep into it as of yet.  I was just going through to get a feel of the differences between this and Rome.  It does take some time to assemble everything, however from what I have seen it should be worth it.

There's also a Green edition available! (No box, no printed rules -- expecting to use a Living Rules pdf or something instead -- and less packaging in various ways.)

Incidentally, there's a version of Republic of Rome on Tabletop Simulator, although it has Russian labels and descriptions on everything (at the moment). The game components themselves are in English.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

The manual in the Valley Games version of Republic of Rome will take me numerous reads to learn.

I'll probably have to take notes as I go.

Likely why I still haven't got around to playing it.  I don't recall whether it's how the rule book was laid out, or whether there are just a ton of little tidbits, exceptions, and modifiers to remember or look up.

The RoR rules are practically legendary for being difficult to use for learning the game. Writing rules in a much clearer way is something I spent a lot of time on for Carthage, and I'm happy that people seem to agree. Enrico, for example, who is pretty picky on rules writing.

Yes, the Green Edition offers rules in PDF format. Scroll to the end of the page to find them.
