I am sorry. I know you talked about what Linux distro you preferred. I just can't find the post. I have an opportunity to refresh my install and I'd like to know if there are options other than Mint.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hiya.  I'm currently using OpenSUSE Leap edition, and have been for quite some time now.  I really like it and it has one of the best implementations of the KDE desktop I've seen.  It also has a rolling release edition called Tumbleweed if you want to use cutting edge software; I hear you need to install that one from a DVD if you go that route.
