GJK I bought the full game last year plus erratta cards that came out..but wanted the sofcover rulebook..find using the PC and PDF to play a boardgame pretty awkward.

The font in the rulebook is so small PDF is actually a good option because of the ability to zoom.

If you're dead set on reading a printed copy, the rules for playing scenario A are found on pages 3 - 11. Printing these 8 pages should get you up and running, assuming your eye sight is up to the task.

I was more addressing your mention of having to play it solo.  Still, http://webuf.eu/index.php/what-is is a really great resource for all things Up Front.  In there is a "combined" rulebook in the "Rules PDF and Help Section" that uses a font size that you can read and it's also single column which works much better when reading on a PC/Laptop/Tablet/Phone.  I've only browsed through that player created rulebook however so can't vouch that it is 100% true to the original rules manuals (it does say that it incorporates errata).

Also, the rules rewrite from Glen Oberhauser (http://tinyurl.com/jd8nec4) are the ones that I used to *finally* learn this game as the original rulebook isn't easily digested.  Be aware however that you don't want to use those for any official rules disputes that you have with an opponent as they are an interpretation of the rules by Glen.  I think that he's 95% accurate on that interpretation but you'll always want to refer to the actual rulebook for any rules disputes/clarifications.

OK thanks mate.

This is where I'd love an e reader. Then PDF rulebooks wouldn't bother me so much.
