50% off sale at GMT!
I'm reading that you can only order up to two games at 50% off (else I'd deplete my checking account me thinks).  Details from their latest newsletter:

We're happy to have expanded our social media outreach this week, and a bunch of you guys have helped us with background details and information and also with spreading the word, so we're going to have a "Twitter Celebration Sale" for EVERYONE to mark the occasion and to thank you all for your help with spreading the word and helping out with our social media expansion.

Details: Between now and next Wednesday (May 22nd), you can make ONE ORDER with either ONE or TWO IN-STOCK GMT GAMES, and get those games for 50% OFF the retail (or sale - the games on our Specials page DO qualify) price.

Note: this only applies to IN-STOCK games, and only games from GMT, not from the third-party companies (Consimpress, UGG, etc) that we rep on our website.

Coupon Code: When you place your order on our website (www.gmtgames.com) or with our office ladies (800-523-6111 or 559-583-1236 or via online chat from our website), use the following Coupon Code at Checkout to get your discount:

TW1350

Normal Shipping Costs apply.

I picked up CC:Ancients.  Not normally my kind of game seeing that Memoir '44 is ok at best to me.  However, my son has been wanting to play something in the ancients time period and I think that Great Battles of History is just too much for both of us.  I'll see what all of the fuss is about for half the full price which works for me.

If ASL interests you, saw this on BGG today from MMP:

Folks, while clearing some warehouse space, we found a mislabeled box of Armies of Oblivion countersheets which allowed us to build over 100 ziplocked (we're out of boxes, too) copies of the module.

They are $80 each and will go on sale this Saturday morning around 9am EST on the MMP website.

I saw on Boardgamegeek that Thoughthammer is having a massive clearance sale on pretty much everything.  Apparently they're going out of business.

The shipping is prohibitive for me, but it's $10 even for you all lucky enough to live on the mainland.

A relatively new Canadian online game store has started up here : http://www.thecultofthenew.com/

Their regular prices are decent, and every day they run a Deal of the Day promo which tends towards the "Holy crap, that's cheap!"

For example, today you can get Mice & Mystics brand new for $41.99.

Ken Ellis is selling a punched copy of Carrier for $40 as well as a mint copy of Patton's Best for $32.  I just picked up a mint copy of Diplomacy from him.  He responds and ships very quickly.  Some good buys here!

If you run across another Carrier for sale (at a reasonable price) please let me know. I routinely troll BGG and Ebay but I don't get to visit Consimworld much. I find the forums to be a bit confusing.

You might send him an email, his last post said that the sale was pending but you never know if it fell through or not.

On CSW, you can "subscribe" to individual folders.  "Marketplace" is one of the folders that I subscribe to.  Then, update your link for CSW to just go right to the "Message Center".  On that page, any folders that you've subscribed to will show the first of any new messages posted  there.  That is the best (only?) way that I've found to stay on top of what's new there and what's not (again, only within the game specific folders of games that I'm interested in following).

Mark Ruggerio is selling a shrinkwrap copy of Carrier for $110.00 on CSW marketplace:

http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee7011b/67305 (http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee7011b/67305)

If I didn't have a copy of the game unpunched already, I'd jump on this one personally.

FYI: In case you've never bought from CSW Marketplace before, you just simply click on the name (Mark's name in this case) to see his profile info to get his email address.  Jot him off an email asking if it is still for sale and what the total cost with shipping to <your zip or postal code> would be.  Mark is a frequent and fair seller.

A copy of Rage Against the Marines is up for sale: http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee7011b/67314

Game info: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/37875/iwo-jima-rage-against-the-marines

It's a fun little game and would be a great game to get if you're just getting in to board wargaming or trying to get somebody else in to it.  Easy to learn and I think that it has pretty good replayability even though it covers a small island battle campaign.  I even made a "GAP" (Game Assist Program) to play the Japanese side so that you can solitaire it:  http://www.garykrockover.com/sample/RAM/

Just shot the seller an email with a price total request. He also has 5th Fleet for sale. What's the consensus on this game? I've played the computer version a long time ago (MSDOS) but don't remember much. Is it worth $80? he says he'll let both go for $140.

That's a steal for 5th Fleet if it's in shrink wrap. I like those Fleet Series games. They're kinda complex, but not to the point of Harpoon (plus you don't need a a gymnasium to play them).

If you're into modern naval warfare, the VG Fleet games are great. 5th Fleet is widely considered the best of the series. You could probably resell it alone for close to the $140. I was lucky enough to score a good used copy for $20.

So I just looked on ConSim and noticed he's offering both for $140 with shipping included. That's a helluva a deal. I'd pull the trigger if I had the cash.

Honestly, I'm surprised they're still available after more than a week.

The Fleet series were definitely great.

I probably had the most fun with 2nd Fleet (North Atlantic) but they were all great, of the ones I owned (2nd, 6th, and 7th IIRC).  It even served as a dual-layer system, along with Harpoon, a couple times in my youth.  ;D

I don't think there's really anything similar out there today.  I noticed the upcoming Breaking the Chains game would probably qualify, although it's about a future war against China, and not WW3 in the 80s.

Carrier was sold before I got ahold of the seller. I'll think about making an offer on 5th Fleet. My question was is it worth getting the board game for $80 when I probably have the old MSDOS version somewhere on a salvaged HDD from ten years ago. I may even still have the box and included goodies around here in a carton of old games.

I vaguely recall the interface for the DOS game being a real pain in the ass.  Also not sure if the AI was very capable at all.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on 5th Fleet unless you're really into that AOR.  You can get other theaters on BBG marketplace for much less.

The only one I have is 2nd Fleet.  I didn't pay anywhere near $80 for it as I recall.

You'd be better off putting that $80 towards CWiF if you know what I mean!   ;)

My means were rather limited and almost all the places within that means were either fixer-ups (read: tear downs) or short sales with owners'  banks unwilling to sign of on the write-down. The owner of this house had more than 1/2 equity of her selling price and was eager to move on so there was some room for negotiations to bring it down into my reach. It's not ideal but it is solid, dry, heated with propane, and soon to have a 17kw standby generator. And most of all...

It

Is

Mine!

My fellow Canucks, I bring you The Cult of the New! They already had their stock system randomly pick a daily deal every single day...now they've upped the ante. 30 different deals PER HOUR lasting sixty minutes all weekend long. Sometimes the extra savings aren't that substantial, other times they're an extra $10-$15 off the already lower online price.

http://www.thecultofthenew.com/daily-deals/

And please, weep for my bank account. This isn't going to be pretty. $150 gets free shipping? I'd imagine my purchases will have hit that level before dinner today...

Weird web page layout. There's no 'next page' button even though there are more 'deals' than fit on the page  ("Showing 30 out of 51").  ???

According to them on Twitter, there are only 30 deals, not 51. So you aren't missing anything.

Why it's claiming there are 51, I have no idea.

Copy of Carrier and Raid on St. Nazaire for sale from a private seller on CSW:

http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee7011b/68056 (http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee7011b/68056)

Note that he does say his copy of Carrier is "worn" so I'd inquire first.

Also note the items for auction below, a good sized ASL collection for $500 though it looks like most of the stuff is 1st edition.  Still, not a bad price if you're looking to get in and get lots of scenarios/units to play with.

Amazon seems to have a lot of Fantasy Flight games on sale right now.  Around 20 to 25% off.

I picked up Arkham Horror.  Never played it and it is a Lovecraft theme so the purchase was inevitable.  May as well do it on a sale.

Attention Canadian people! Cult of the New is having a rather insane sale for the third weekend in a row. http://www.thecultofthenew.com/active-deals/

Every four hours until Sunday at 9PM EST, another batch of 75 games will be randomly picked by their system and given an extra markdown of anywhere from 10%-30% off on top of their usual discount. If you see less than 75, that means there were a bunch of other deals which have sold out already. The fine print :

Quote1. The Cult of the New is not allowing any 'Hold Orders', 'Local Pick-Up Orders' or the combining of orders during the duration of this Promotion. (From Friday at 9pm EST til Sunday at 9pm EST)
2. The prices of the "Prolly Won't Arrive Before Xmas, But Who Knows?" Even More Insanity Sale!!! are valid only for the 4 hour window and will revert to the normal (though awesome regular pricing) at the end of the four hour window. (that includes items held in 'carts').
3. Again, stock is limited and we fully expect to sell out, so if you want something, you may want to snag it when you see it.
4. The Cult of the New reserves the right to adjust or modify any aspect of this promotion, its rules and its duration as we see fit and with no advance notice.

And EVERYTHING is up for the system to discount. Eldritch Horror came out all of 2 weeks ago. I just grabbed a copy for $32.55.

While we're waiting for the UpFront reprint  ::)

I came across two copies of the Avalon Hill edition of UF on eBay. Currently at $20 for both with two days left in the auction. I have a feeling the bidding may not get to crazy due to the sellers description of them being in poor condition. Judging from the pictures, the boxes are in a horrible state while the other components look to be in rather good shape. The cards have even been sleeved!

The shipping for this item to Canada is $28, which is about what I'd expect to pay for two bookcase games from most online retailers in the US. It still seems like a ridiculous amount to me as well. How much is shipping to your region?
Title: Re: The Groginati BOARDGAMING Sales Thread
Post by: Staggerwing on January 04, 2014, 01:44:30 PM
Actually, I forgot to log in and, being the ebay.ca site, assumed I was in Canada as well. Once I did shipping dropped to $13.20 ($14CA) and there was no $8 import charge anymore. Looks like my eBay and eBay.ca accounts are linked as my watch list shows on both.

Did you bid already? We could always split the auction since there are two copies (assuming the components are complete) and I could parcel post you one. Would you still have to pay the import thingie?

I already own 1.5 copies of UF, but thanks for the offer. I pointed it out as the game is sought by many, with sellers often asking for an arm and a leg for a used copy. Prices for the AH release seem to have dropped somewhat since the kickstarter campaign surfaced.

As a matter of fact I ordered Steel Wolves direct from Compass Games. When they have good sales on like this they beat all of the retailers.

I've enjoyed Steel Wolves so far. It's a bit of a grind to play and very challenging to win. Love the massive scope and look forward to trying the grand campaign one of these days. Figure it will take a year to complete, assuming I don't get my butt kicked like I generally do.

Fantasy Flight just put up some big sale prices on a few things!

Some notables:

Gears Of War boardgame
Blue Max
Fortress America

..some other odds and ends.

Those three above are going for around $20 apiece, with some damaged boxes of Gears of War going for as little as $10.   I suspect these will be cleared out of stock before long.

http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/index.cfm

I can definitely recommend Gears Of War for a solitaire/Co-op boardgame involving some strategy and hand management.  The other two are classics many of you are probably familiar with to some extent.  :)

I only have 2nd Edition, and enough of it to keep me busy for awhile, so I didn't grok the 1st edition expansion they had on sale.  Didn't realize it was going for $5.  Might've been worth it just for the extra minis!

I almost pissed myself when I saw the updated Blue Max on sale.  Been wanting to pick it up lately.  Despite only coming with six aircraft types (one of which is a historically inaccurate earlier type of Nieuport never used by Rickebacker but listed as his), I've read that the components are nice and the gameplay is engaging as expected.

Also grabbed Fortress America despite it being one of my lesser favorites of the old Milton Bradley series.  Would much rather have Shogun (aka "Ikusa" nowadays) but not gonna complain for $20!

EDIT:  Be patient with the FFG online store.  It's getting hammered right now, as expected.  I had to go Back and/or Reload my checkout pages a few times before getting my order completely finalized.

Hopefully you guys can get what you want, while you still can.

I did go for it with regards to the Fantasy Flight sale. My wife actually gave me PERMISSION to do so and I ended up taking a mile when she gave me an inch. :)

I grabbed a *damaged* Gears of War game for $20 and a couple of other titles. The normal sale for the Gears of War game was $30 for a 'clean' copy but I thought it was worth the savings to just get a damaged box with a complete set of pieces. I ended up placing the order and got the confirmation email, but did not hear from them for several days.

I sent an email to FF, very nicely inquiring, fully aware that they were no doubt getting slammed by hundreds of orders. And someone named Molly wrote me back. She was polite but I could read between the lines how frustrated she was; she said they had received "thousands and thousands" of orders and had a big backlog to work through.

I wrote her back and told her what a great job I thought they were all doing and that through my previous retail experience I had an idea of how hard things must be, so I told her that I was happy that she and her team were busting their butts to make these orders go through, and that I'd much rather have them complete and accurate instead of rushed. I told her there were a lot of us that were very, very happy with this sale and more than happy to be patient, and to ignore the jackasses that were no doubt giving her and her team a hard time (I think I mentioned something about hoping she was getting properly spelled emails with a lack of profanity).

She replied to me, saying what a nice email it was and that she'd printed it out and put it in the employee lounge for everyone to read. :)

The box arrived today and I was a little surprised that it arrived so quickly. On top of that, apparently Molly put a brand freakin' new copy of Gears of War in my order. The game box is in perfect and pristine shape. Just goes to show you how far some friendliness and patience will go. I'm happy she went that extra mile for me.

To the Last Man started life as a print and play game, supposed to be quite straightforward to play though I've not had a chance.

Phantom Fury is fun. I don't get it to the table nearly enough as it takes a while to play. There is a user created map/scenario on the geek for it that looks interesting.

Logged in, put Dawn of the Zeds 2nd Ed. in my cart, and the site promptly went down "for maintenance" when I tried to check out another Darkest Night expansion.   :-\

The Barbarossa Campaign is one I want, but it is getting the Gold Standard treatment so I am waiting.  I was interested in maybe picking up Empires in America and Zulus... but I will probably just hold off.  I had considered picking up Shadows of Brimstone, but it looks a little repetitive so I am concerned about the longivity.  I have just traded for a new load of games and Fire in the Lake is looking at me!

Amazon.com has a range of boardgames on sale for the next 12 hours or so.

Sale prices also range to what looks like a top of 50% off.

Big groggy score would seem to be "Heroes of Nornmandie" which can be had for a nice discount.

I've occasionally dug through shopgoodwill for wargames, rpgs, minis, etc but sorting through the heap is a time consuming process.

Plus, you can't be sure the stuff is complete.  So it can be a bit of a gamble on some things.  Still, the prices aren't bad.

Yup.  O0

I grabbed both Red Menace and Operation Drumbeat. OD is a pretty simplistic but interesting solitaire game where you're a U-Boat captain off the East Coast of the U.S. from January to April 1942 (the "second good time"). I might start up a simple AAR if I can stop fiddling with the map graphics in Photoshop.

I think I'll start up an AAR, as I doubt it will take much effort. The game is pretty simple and is a 21-page PDF. One page is a navigation map, another is an info tracking sheet. The first four pages are full of background stuff. Two pages are sample sub logs. The point is, there's a lot of 'extra' content in there so it's not 21 pages of rules.

I might post something later today. BGG is bereft of images as well.

GMT newsletter says their big sale is starting October 20th, with select stuff @ around 50% off.

Unfortunately, it also mentioned setbacks that have become the norm at GMT lately:  Shipping Delays  (and misprints having to be redone but that shouldn't affect their Sale products).  So I wouldn't expect any purchased sale items to show up for awhile afterward.  :-\

The FFG games on sale aren't nearly as impressive as the sale they had last year. I grabbed Blue Max and Arcana last year, but the remaining ones aren't grabbing me. I wish they offered the full base Tide of Iron instead of the expansions, otherwise I won't be spending money over there this year.

Though if you want something I highly recommend going with them...their customer service is second to none. I had issues last year and they were super helpful.

Agreed. However, their WH40K RPG books are $5 each. I bought about $250's worth for the cost of one, though the shipping was $16.

I can't remember if it was last year or the year before, but I managed to pick up Horus Heresy (two player version) on the cheap. Still haven't played it, of course, but I think it was ~$25.

I spent $13 on goods but the shipping was another $26.  I could have had it sent to my US PO box just across the border for $14 but I figure it was worth another $12 to save the time, gas, and the crossing hassle and have it shipped straight to Canuckistan.  (Should be here around March, I'm guessing.)

I'd go for the Tide of Iron core set (thanks, Cyrano, I totally missed that and admittedly know nothing about ToI except that it looks cool) but I can't swing forty bucks right now plus shipping. The W40K books look good but I'll refrain myself because they'll just sit on my shelf and look pretty, and nothing else unfortunately.

I missed Planet Steam - that's another one I got last year in their sale. And Rock Band Manager. Haven't had a chance to play any of them though.  :-[

I picked up the new Mage Wars Academy, and Yashima: Legend of the Kami Masters.

It also has card games like an MtG and Ascension set, Illuminati, the regular Mage Wars 2nd Ed core set (with the modular arena pieces), popular Euros like Five Tribes, and I thought it also had King Of New York earlier this morning although they may have sold out of stock.

Attention Canadian board gamers! Several major Canadian online stores have sales that will be kicking off when the clock strikes 12:01 AM on Boxing Day.

Starlit Citadel (http://www.starlitcitadel.com/games/) is advertising 8,000 total items marked down, with discounts as deep as 80%. They're in BC, so their sale will start 'later' thanks to time zones. Free shipping threshold is $175.
BoardGameBliss (http://www.boardgamebliss.com/) will have 10% off the entire store and double loyalty points (you can build these up in your account for free shipping, discounts, etc), plus they will have a list of deep price cut items. Free shipping at $200.
Great Boardgames (http://www.greatboardgames.ca/) will have some sort of a sale, though they aren't really saying anything specific ahead of time. I believe they've done boxing week discounts with small numbers of titles that change over the week. Free shipping at $200.
Quiche Games (http://quichegames.com/) is having 10% off the entire store, including pre-orders and gift cards. Their site is currently down for a massive inventory update. Their catalog is considerably smaller than the others (they're quite new), but free shipping kicks in at $100.

Some of these stores (Bliss in particular) have become quite popular south of the border as well, and exchange rates make buying from Canadian stores a decent bargain for a lot of American shoppers, so popular items are likely to sell out FAST.

Starlit Citadel is local for me so I can pick stuff up and avoid the shipping fees if anyone with a mailing address in Canada needs.  Don't know if having me ship via Canada Post would be any cheaper though.

If anyone has a GO! store (usually calenders, but also games/you'd at a lot of them) they've got everything at 50% if right now. I just picked up Kingdom Builder and Dungeon for less than the normal price of Kingdom Builder.

They don't have a lot of traditional wargames, but you can find a lot of variations of the Risk games, plus all manner of Ticket to Ride versions, Caran + expansions, lots and lots of Munchkins (ours has Walking Dead and Nightmare Before Christmas versions), all at half off or more

Why?  Is there some Boxed Deluxe edition they stopped printing?

I'm guessing these were some extra in-house manufactured games they had in stock?  Sounds like VPG is now attempting to outsource all their manufacturing just like everyone else, unfortunately.  They may be trying to make space with sales more often now, since they'll need more storage area.

Prices get jacked up by 3rd party sellers on Amazon, regularly, if they think something is Out Of Print.

That's a listing from Noble Knight, which tends to carry a LOT of out-of-print stuff.  But their pricing isn't usually that far out of whack.  Someone must've thought it OOP when it isn't.  Or VPG recently discontinued it and is just off-loading the last bit?

They usually let you do the free trial once a year. I used to do what you did. I have Prime now mainly because I needed an alternative to Netflix.

Prime is great when you consider all the services it includes for $99/yr. The two-day shipping is dangerous though. I've ordered more through Amazon this year than at any time in the past. Knowing that a purchase will be on your doorstep in just two days makes it awfully easy to pull the trigger.

The shipping savings helps tremendously, and I wish I'd known they let you do it once a year. Every time I get those Amazon cards from my fitness site, it would be nice to use them just towards good stuff and not having to pay shipping.

Of course, you have to remember that the 'French' forces were mainly made up of Colonial Parachute battalions, which were 50% Vietnamese, and Foreign Legion Battalions. Also, most of the gunners were colonial troops from North Africa.

Its on the table now whilst I go through the rules. As mentioned, I recommend that you use the latest ones from the link I gave.

Its got some very nice mechanics, and tonnes of flavour. I hope to have a bash at it later today.

Did you get your copy yet?

CoolStuffInc has GMT's Labyrinth: The War on Terror, 2001-? and the expansion Labyrinth: The Awakening, 2010-? on sale for 24 hours.

$37.99 for the main game and $18.99 for the expansion (which comes in a baggy).

Good game, not overly complex, and lots of replayability.  It's quite similar to Twilight Struggle with a little bit of COIN type stuff thrown in as well.  Buy it!  Then I'll have someone to play against on VASSAL.

I've only got one play through of it so I can't say for certain but I did enjoy the new additions.  Adding in civil wars and rival military units seemed to add some interesting depth to the game (when we weren't screwing up the rules).  Groggier players might not agree with some of the designer's views or his conclusions on the colour revolutions and the Arab Spring.  I don't really care as long as it's fun to play, which I think it is.  I wonder how the game will come across in 5-10 year's time though.  It feels like they've drawn conclusions on real world events while many of those events are still playing out now.

No, I didn't get one of the terrain maps... I agonized over the decision for moths on which one of the grassland ones to get then I found this one:

(https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn6.bigcommerce.com%2Fs-yyj2m%2Fproducts%2F267%2Fimages%2F1059%2FPM0077-Planiglobii_Terrestris_old_map_promatz__98188.1461230624.1000.1000.jpg%3Fc%3D2&hash=8eb7ebed5f483ec8e602a81a3e111351423b41f9)

I'm a sucker for old maps and this will look great as a table surface, once my table is stained dark walnut.

I figured I mostly board game/card game anyway and if I want terrain I'll just make some up with green or blue or black felt.

And then today I left the damn video camera in a classroom at work...no biggie, nobody's going to mess with it, but dammit, now I can't film this weekend like I'd wanted to. Though I am getting a mount for my phone tomorrow or Sunday so I'll be able to do something, perhaps.

I would also give Shadowrift a thumbs-up, if you enjoy co-op/solitaire deck builders with a dark fantasy theme.

Like Thunderstone, but the fights against the monsters are more involved & feel less like trick-taking.  Also - the "village defense" theme is more involved in the mechanics since the beasties tend to snatch various villagers if they get past you, in turn further limiting your resources.  O0

I've not seen this new 2nd edition.  Still have the old & less good looking original.  If I had more money to blow, I'd pick up the prettier younger one.  ;)

CoolStuffInc has a sale going on a range of games.

Pretty sure there are a couple wargames in there, too.  If they're not sold out yet.  Noticed some ASL expansion in there, for example.  Must've been overstocked?

https://www.coolstuffinc.com/page/2662?&resultsperpage=25&s=bg

Also saw they had FFG's new Fallout boardgame on there, but the discount must not have been huge since it had a "see price in checkout" tag on it.  L:-)

Edit:  There is also an S&T Magazine/game, GMT's Talon for $32,  Twilight Struggle Deluxe for 35, and probably some more scattered stuff.

Miniature Market has a summer sale running until Monday.

https://www.miniaturemarket.com/deals/promo-sale.html

There are a few good deals in there.   I grabbed the mongo Secrets Of The Lost Tomb 2e pulp dungeon crawler for about $22, that's around 1/3rd normal cost (although I read that people recommend getting some expansions with it soon).

Dragonfire, the D&D cooperative campaign deck-builder, is also a few dollars off.  Uses a similar system to their Shadowrun: Crossfire card game.  This D&D one seems to be getting more post-release add ons, which was my only complaint about Crossfire.

There's the odd wargaming stuff on sale, too.  I saw a couple of the Quartermaster General games in it, along with a few expansions such as the Conflict Of Heroes Solo rules.  I wanted to pick up the Peloponnesian Quartermaster General game, but I already had too much $hit in my shopping cart!  ;D

Announcement from MMP

QuoteTHURSDAY, JULY 5th, STARTING AT 9AM EAST COAST TIME

We will have approximately 50 copies of Doomed Battalions, 16 copies of SASL, and 25 copies of Operation Watchtowers for sale.

Why, you ask? Because these are all ziplocked games built out of the last of our spare parts for these games.

Here are the finer points.

We will only take PHONE ORDERS for these, so that we do not oversell them. Our phone number is 410-729-3334 or 1-888-TGAMERS.

We will only sell one copy of each game to a person. We are sympathetic to you wanting to buy one for yourself and a gift for your Grandmother who always wanted Doomed Battalions, but she will have to do without.

We will not sell any of these to retailers, there is no retailer discount.

Doomed Battalions is $120. SASL is $100. Operation Watchtower is $80. Postage applies, of course, but since there are no boxes the shipping should be less.

We will be open and taking phone orders THURSDAY JULY 5th from 9AM to 2PM EDT. If we have any left after Thursday, the same rules will apply for Friday, June 6th.

If you try to order these via email, by website, by coming to the office - YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! SO please, phone orders only. This is strictly due to the low number of these products. If you wish to add to the order with other in-stock items that is entirely up to you!

There is a slight chance we may have some boxed Paratroopers as well - more on that probably Monday...

We are just trying to be fair about this, and we believe this is the most fair way to sell them.

Noble Knight has a store-wide "Moving Sale" on a bunch of stuff, supposedly going right now.

So their web store is moving slow as dirt from what I suspect to be unusually high traffic.

Noble Knights has a big sale going on now;

https://www.nobleknight.com/

QuoteHello Everyone,

Our HUGE moving sale is now on!  We have priced our entire inventory on sale (over 7000 manufacturers) with the only exception being a few manufacturers who we can't price any lower due to MAP policy.   Get yourself some new games and help lighten our load during our upcoming move.  As usual we have free shipping for orders over $150 in the continental US.  This is the biggest sale we have EVER done so act now as it's on for a limited time!

In board game releases over the last week, we have both the regular edition and deluxe edition of Gearworks from Piecekeeper Games, all the new Fluxx games from Looney Labs and Woodlands from Ravensburger.  Nemesis – Burma from Legion Wargames and D-Day at Iwo Jima from Decision Games are two of the latest War game titles we have in-stock.  We have all the latest Kill Team products from Games Workshop and the anticipated Adeptus Titanicus releases this Saturday.

Contact us with any trades you have to build up your store credit or get cash for those games that you no longer play or are taking up your closet space.  We would be happy to find a new home for them.   We are here to help so let us know if you need any help!

Happy Gaming,
Dan Leeder

It's got a reputation for being a tad on the complex side of things. But I guess that does not matter when it is a fun to play system. Which this one is I reckon from your answer  :)

I have both the WW2 titles based on the same system as Raiders Of The Deep.  I think.  That's the WW1 version, right?

While the system is pretty easy to learn, it also didn't provide much in the way of decision making.  Which made it rather repetitive.

The DVG sub games appear to provide more decision making, but the amount of cards makes me question how much variety it provides over the long run.  Judging by looking through Gato Leader which I picked up last year.

Compass Games 40% off sale has been extended until April 17th.

They also added a 33% off sale (no code needed for)
Check out these great titles offered at 33% off. No coupon code required.

Item Name   Sales
Price   List           Price
Once We Moved Like The Wind, The Apache Wars, 1861-1886   $47   $69
CSS The Little Land – The Battle for Novorossiysk  $87   $129
Combat!   $93   $139
Ostkrieg: WWII Eastern Front   $40   $59
France 1944: Allied Crusade in Europe, Designer Signature Edition    $47   $69
Blue Water Navy    $74   $109
You can also save 33% on the following issues of Paper Wars

Item Name   Sales
Price   List           Price
Issue 93 (includes WAGRAM game)   $31   $46.95
Issue 92 (includes PITT'S WAR game)  $31   $46.95

Ostkreig uses the same basic system as Pacific Tide which I reviewed very favorably.  I just don't care for the Eastern Front since I hate both Commies & Nazis.

Revolution Games is having a 33% off sale.

The available games include some gems: like Herman Luttmann's Civil War Blind Swords series ("Stonewall's Sword" - Cedar Mountain, "Kernstown", "Longstreet Attacks" - 2nd day of Gettysburg and "Thunder in the Ozarks" - Pea Ridge). This is the same ruleset used for GMTs "At Any Cost - Metz"

I hit the button on "Kernstown" and "Poland Defiant".

A huge positive: most of the games have Vassal modules.

Warning Order:

Fine Games, one of the premier retailers for older games is getting ready for a "Retirement Liquidation"

From: www.finegames.com

Right now they are selling a bunch of wargaming related magazines at some good prices. The games come later....

Ready for Retirement? Our (Pre-) Retirement Liquidation Sales
Ready for retirement? OUR retirement?

It isn't time yet, but it is above the horizon. And we are actively planning for it. Doing what *I* want 24/7.

But first we have to find homes for as many of our 9,000 items in stock as humanly possible. Can't spend an entire career preserving and selling these fine games and then dump them in a trash bin, can we?

So, while our first Retirement Liquidation Sale hasn't quite been announced, it is ready for a sneak peek if you don't mind some rough edges. Together with an astounding offer.

We offer liquidation prices on 502 magazines, and with each one your purchase at liquidation pricing you can select another mag from a sub-set for FREE! Basically 2 for 1, all at liquidation pricing.

Oh, and if you want a parts game box, for FREE!, we can do that too!

If you have ever bought them, you know the prices rarely go low, even for used copies. So great time to stock up.  Fast shipping.

Sale ends September 22nd.

NOT A DOUBLE POST:

It's sale time again at Operational Studies Group... 20% savings on items in print, and 30% off pre-orders until January 30th.

If you aren't familiar with OSG, they publish primarily Napoleonic Wars oriented games. The packages are all of high quality and OSG is known for their excellent maps and historical fidelity. Most of the games on sale are from their "Library of Napoleonic Battles Series." This series features battles with counters at the brigade / division level. There are usually four or five battles in each package, all from the same campaign. For example; "Napoleon's Wheel" features battles from the Danube Campaign (Ulm, Durenstein, Schongrabern, and Austerlitz). There are often more than one package per major campaign.

OSG has another series, "The Campaigns of Napoleon Series". Currently only one of the games "Highway to the Kremlin" is in print. This game features a map of Russia with 10 mile hexes and 5 day turns.

The games are normally a little pricey even on the secondary market. So the sale prices are more where I feel comfortable.

I have made several orders with them...and in all cases they had my games in the mail within a day...in short great service.
