NHL opens tonight, and holy cow what a debut!

On the first 3 shots the kid took as an NHL player went in.  Yep, 18-yo kid in he debut for the Maple Leafs, had a hat trick on the first 3 shots he took as an NHL player.  Say that again:  Three.  Shots.  And they all went in  :o :o :o

And in classic Maple Leafs we-can't-get-it-right-even-when-we-get-it-right fashion, they still lost the game  :2funny: :2funny:  >:D

QuoteAuston Matthews delivered an NHL debut for the ages on Wednesday, scoring four goals on a night that won't soon be forgotten in the rich history of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 19-year-old from Scottsdale, Arizona, chosen first overall in June's NHL draft, scored on his first three shots against the Senators, with the hat trick prompting visiting Leafs fans at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa to throw hats onto the ice.

Three was not enough, however.

Matthews took a pass from linemate William Nylander on a 2-on-1 break and scored a fourth goal (on just his sixth shot) with three seconds left in the second period, becoming the first player in modern NHL history to score that many in his debut.

Yep. Conner McDavid got things rolling with two goals and a assist as well. The young guys definitely stole the show on night one. Plus the Leaf's still suck  :2funny:

All in all, a great start to the season.

Thank God there's hockey again!

At the Canes-Panthers game tonight, 3 rows off the ice.  All 5 goals have been right in front of us. Since we're currently up 3-2, I'm fine if there are no more goals tonight :)

Did I see the Panthers fired their coach after that game?

Then the Canes went to NY and blew a 2-goal lead to the Rangers...

The Dallas Jumbotron operator was having some fun yesterday.

Apparently it's not the first time.  The guys that run the Dallas Jumbotron are AWE. SOME.
