Greetings all,

I stumbled upon the Grogheads a few months ago via a link to one of the podcasts. Since then, I've been listening to the podcasts (new episodes and checking out some of the back catalog). I'm a tabletop guy, and still relatively new to wargames. My preferences are the lighter fare (Wings of Glory, Memoir, etc) but especially Waro /Weuros (A Few Acres of Snow and Quartermaster General are two of my favorite games).

For the past five or six years I've been designing games. A year ago, my first wargame was signed by a publisher and should be released later this year or early next year. I'm really looking forward to that.

In the mean time, my current design focus is on a Waro that is centered on the Europe/Russia battle for influence over Eastern and Central Europe and the Caucasus post-Cold War. The theme ties in very closely with some of the discussion from Season 2, Episode 3 of the podcast. I'd love to get feedback from the community here about the design. What would be the best place to post and ask for some thoughts on the design?

Thanks!
David Thompson

Depends on where he is, Sir S. Now, if he's up't north in my part of the world, he'll be fine :-)

I work at RAF Molesworth, but live just outside of Cambridge. My family and I have been here for about a year and half, and we absolutely love it. Fantastic environment for a family, and a great launching point for vacationing in Europe.

There's also the added bonus of being part of the Cambridge-area game design and playtest community. It's a fantastic group that includes some fairly prominent designers from around the world (though, admittedly, there is more of a focus on board and cards games and not so much on wargames).

Sounds like they are treating you OK over there David. Looks like there's still a little civilization left after all in the Mother Country.

Oh, it's pretty great here. Makes traveling to places like Essen a lot easier and cheaper!

The UK also has a pretty good gaming scene. I'm part of an awesome designer group in Cambridge, and we have some good Cons here - especially the upcoming UK Games Expo.
