Still playing (and loving) Histwar:Napoleon. Takes time to learn because of some language translation issues and a manual that isn't great at explaining stuff. But what a beautiful game! And I don't have to watch my regiment coughing over each other and facing in different directions (Although I DO love SoW: Waterloo with the KS mod)

Edit:  if you guys have an interest in grand-tactical Napoleonic war fare then I really recommend make the effort to dig into this game. It's got issues but it's quite good once you learn how to do it.

Also, some Graviteam Tank Warfare 1943: Tunisia. GREAT GAME but good lord... is it necessary to constantly change an already complicated UI? There was a new UI made for Tunisia but that was updated and the new version installed in the older Mius Front as well.  As soon as I learn one,  I have to deal with a new one. If You're not going to make it easier why change it? but regardless... fun game

Not much time this weekend but probably will spend what time I can with my endless legend game and continue my redive into Horizon Zero Dawn.

Also looking at starting up a new Rimworld game now that it's gone full release.
Insert witty comment here.

Warframe of course.  Not sure what else - maybe some more Carrier Deck and GemCraft.

Airboy I'm sorry to hear about Zippo.  18 years is an excellent innings though.  Take comfort in knowing you gave him a good home for a long time. :)

Veil of Crows went into full release yesterday, so I'll be messing with that somewhat this weekend, I expect. (It's on sale for less than US$14.)

My Europe abandonment strategy for StratCom's duel against Shelldrake continues to pay dividends to the Soviets -- who have launched Sealion against me now.  #:-) French Algeria has become Soviet Algeria a little sooner than in real life, I think...  :buck2: It's a harsh October 1945, although at least we won a land invasion of Japan... off map... so there's that. I guess.

The GROGPUBLIC OF ROME has won their second War, this time against the Volsci, led by Cincinnatus, who just can't seem to catch a popularity break. Marcus Furius Camilus tried to beat the Veia, too, but only earned a stalemate -- with no losses, luckily enough. He'll now be the Republic's first Proconsul, as his campaign extends into the next game Turn. Odds are reasonably good we'll get into the Italian Era this weekend, but what other challenges await on the way there?! (Still two slots open in the game for new players, by the way.)

Warlock 2 is just such a great games, especially if you have all the DLC and the Renaissance mod, which almost makes it a new game. One of my 'Most Played of all Times' game.  :bd:

Does MD approve?

Finally started Vampyr - parts of it I like, for example the era, atmosphere and writing, and parts of it I hate, like the locked-in difficulty system (uneditable after starting a campaign) and the automatic save system. The background info and sidequests are good too, so I am soldiering on. Want to start a vampire counts campaign in Warhammer: TW this weekend too.

You fellers above have my interest piqued in Warlock 2 - gotta start that at some point, as well as Endless Legend.

And I really miss Skyrim. Someone please tell me that Elder Scrolls Online has some of that Skyrim magic...lie to me if you must.

I do have all the DLC's and I am running the Renaissance mod as well. It's yet another game I bought on a Steam sale and let it sit marinating for another year before I got to it, but I'm enjoying it now. I only played Warlock I once through and never picked it up again, but I think 2 has some legs. Not to mention a recommendation from Bawb as well!

Gus, I tried Elder Scrolls Online maybe a year back and was disappointed. I probably put more time into Skyrim than any game I've ever owned and I badly wanted to love ESO but it just wasn't there. That being said, MMO's can change quickly and maybe someone with more recent experience in the game can kick in an opinion.

Gusington

You were supposed to lie!!

What about it don't you like?

I've read a lot of comments on how it is easy to play ESO as a single player game, which is exactly why I bought it.

Would also be good to get more info on why you like Warlock II - I also got it at a Steam sale and spent extra money on DLC just to get the Bawb-recommended Renaissance mod.

Still have to fire it up :/

And I really miss Skyrim. Someone please tell me that Elder Scrolls Online has some of that Skyrim magic...lie to me if you must.

I liked it quite a lot -- some recent reviewer has called it the best Skyrim sequel you're not playing, which I think is accurate as far as it goes. But you have to get used to the usual public busyness and crazy-ness going on around you when you aren't in a plot instance, with colorful characters lining up to get the same plot you're getting. After a while it just broke the immersion for me. Which wasn't helped by being escorted by a much higher level friend who didn't care about the plot (and probably never did).

At least some of the costumes are... aesthetically interesting.  ^-^

Right now, I might suggest Lord of the Rings Online instead. Halloween around the western early-game entry areas is fun, and there's a little less random PC population making it obvious that they're running the same plot as you all the time. In fact, last time I was on looking around, the Shire area was pretty empty of human players. It's absolutely free now, with most of its income being made off cosmetics or extra character slots for running different character builds, and if you're a patient methodical guy like me you can wander the area draining quests and unlocking the plot as you go. Or you can buy cheap upgrades from Steam which unlock more of the main plot immediately. It isn't nearly as colorful as Skyrim online, but it isn't as overtly insane either -- you won't see dark elves with a succubus build and feather-mail bikinis or the equivalent, when you're hanging around smithies working on your xp, and you may consider that a plus or a minus. It's easy to find a server where people seriously role-play their experience, and so don't do trollish things. PvP is restricted to one area (the Troll Fells if I recall), which players never have to get involved with unless they just want PvP. I enjoy letting the nieces trot around the Shire occasionally using my bard (who looks a lot like me). The devs care enough about the lore to keep out pumpkins, for example; but on the other hand, bards are the wizards of the game in effect (since there are only three active wizards per the book series).

I've been thinking about letting my update run tonight and then hopping on over the weekend to wander around. I've long since finished Bree (the human start area), and have been just meandering the Shire as one of the honorary sherrifs, in no hurry to get to the plot which after all can take care of itself. But the game features the largest contiguous game area of any ongoing game -- there are subtle boundary loads, but you don't go into loading screens, so I rode to the Shire from the Bree area, and could walk to the Blue Mountains, or to Mordor by now if I wanted. I'm not sure the game's plot has finished up the War of the Ring yet but they're getting close.

ESO at the time just felt too "grindy". I had played WoW for years and truth may be that I'm simply burned out on MMO's and ESO wasn't offering anything special. I would read some more recent reviews if you're thinking about taking the plunge. And speaking of....sounds like JasonPratt has a little more positive experience than myself.

I'm not deep enough into Warlock II to give it a grade or worthwhile opinion yet, but so far I find it to be an excellent CIV style fantasy kingdom builder with good variety while hampered by a few annoying design choices....such as too-strict a limit on towns you can own (although you can turn some into specialty towns which don't count against your ceiling) and the typical weak diplomacy from your AI opponents. They do put up a decent challenge in a fight however.

JasonPratt

Also, unlike ESO, you can play an actual dwarf, from the guy who created fantasy novel dwarves.  :coolsmiley:

Nice posts above, thanks guys. I never play MMOs, ever. ESO would be my first...so maybe there is hope?

And I play as a dwarf every single day. Believe me when I say it's nothing special.

Maybe I'm dwarfing it wrong.

Airboy I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.  Spend that quality time with him this weekend and remember, he had a better life living with you and your family than he would have if you didn't rescue him back in 2006.

As for gaming this weekend I plan to play Phantom Doctrine, Stellaris, Nobunaga's Ambition: Taisho, Heroes and Generals, and maybe even setup Twilight Imperium fourth edition in my newly established man cave mwahahaha!
