A little nostalgic journey into the world of rise of the republic --
It's like Imperator Rome but you already own it and the fights look better! :D
I just started a Wrath of Sparta campaign and am enjoying it.
I may also have to revisit this classic. I truly have not put in the time the game deserves.
Still absolutely hate that food mechanism, though. I may have to find a mod to mod that out if one exists.

I do like the weird imagery -- like this psychokiller with his little turquoise shield:
They all look like a bunch of angry Soccer Fans to me. :hide:

Fixed that for you. 😜
I don't see a difference. :2funny:
THIS! IS! LITERALLY! ALL! OF! EUROPE! >:D
They probably just get bad press. I bet most times soccer teams fans stream through towns handing out flowers and kissing babies on their cheeks. :-* And we just don't see it. Or hear about it. Ever. Doesn't mean it don't happen though.

Whole lotta hoplites:
A Heap of Hops! O0
That one shield with the face on it made me giggle.

Food is great if you keep producing enough food buildings as you expand.
Because producing extra Food gives you bonuses! \m/
It's stuff like Sanitation that gets to be a pain in the ass.
Pun intended?
Or, Hun intended?
:o
Very angry gnome apparently. He probably needs more gnome beer. <:-)

Your basic hoplites, staying calm:
Nothing says, 'surprise' like a spear in the gut.
Fart with a lump in it is up there as well.
:o
Still love Rome II. It's the one that got truly me back into the franchise (after Rome 1 ironically compelled me to forsake it).
I enjoy the DLC's (especially the fantastic Rise of the Republic), but the grand campaign is still what grabs me the most. There are so many factions I have yet to try out! :D

It's definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Fall of the Sams was fun, but Rome II (and yes, especially Rise of the Republic) is Epic.
I agree! Always a game I return to over time.
Damn, now I'm feeling the urge to fire it up again.
Hmm, would I go with my favorite faction (Pontus) again since it's been a while, or do I try someone different? Ponder, ponder...
Do you guys play with vanilla or a mod? I installed this big all encompassing mod (I don't remember its name, but not Radious the other) and there is something I just hate. And perhaps that's also in vanilla...
That's the 'sprinkle effect'. i.e anything or anyone giving a bonus just don't give a decent 1-3 bonuses, but 15+ very minor bonuses. Like say you have a general with a 'Public Order' trait, then you can be sure he will end up with stuff like: +2% Public Order, +3% Sanitation, +1% Wet Feet, -2% Cheese production, +4% the color of sky is blue and so on.
I just hate that. It makes totally impossible a simple analysis, where you can put in your mind: ok this guy is good at ... or bad at.
Strangely, Total Warhammer II has not this issue. So that's probably not from Creative Assembly, but from the mod. Now, playing Rome II without a mod, is like eating without salt I guess.
And so, I can't get into Rome II.

I'm usually running a bunch of semi-civilized quasi barbarians. I feel lucky if they seem to have some idea of how to tell one end of a stick from the other.
I never play Total War games with mods.

I did for a while, but with the DLC, Rome II is sort of modded anyway so...I've been playing Vanilla for the last few years.
I like the DEI Mod. It ups the strategy requirement, slows the game down a little, and is way more challenging fighting battles. Radious was good too but made the campaign a little too easy for my tastes. Just can't go back to vanilla.
Modding for TW has some of the best modding packs you'll find anywhere - especially Rome II and Attila. And Charlemagne.

And there's always the unexpected -- the enemy doesn't always fall for the cone trick:
They might take the rocky road instead
That kind of reminds me of an Office Party I went to one year. But with more cones and fewer feathers.
