Slitherine has sold the wargamer.
Innnnteresting...
Congrats?
Am I alone in never hearing of Network N before now?
Yay?
Sounds good for them, but I stopped checking that site years ago.

Multiple dittos.
Good evening,
I am bbmike. I write this to dispel any fiction that something may have happened to me. Thank you.
Your forum friend as always,
bbmike.
I think it's a collaboration between Gameleaper and Ghostryder...and maybe Lava. Not sure on that last one, he came and went kinda fast. L:-)

I spotted a wild Lava a short time back. Must've joined the new Spanish Civil War recently, been silent again.

Same.
Hard to swallow reviews about Slitherine games (and non-slitherine games) from a site thats owned by Slitherine.
I'll go over to Network N daily to get virtually punched in the face by Lava.

+1
I hope a new owner will rejuvenate the website and result in non-partisan reviews.

When there are no mods, or the mods turn to the dark side, there is no return to civility.
Lava originally punched me in the face (virtually) when I was a mod there!
From their announcement:
QuoteNow we can spread the good word and teach them that PUBG is just a phase that they need to get over. Gary Grigsby's War in the East, anyone?
I love them already :smitten:
I never had 1000 posts there.
Here, on the other hand...
Wait...
Oh no....
You know it's still me right? :P
But thanks - it's very exciting. If you guys play a lot of PC games then maybe you've heard of PCGamesN? It's like a really big pc gaming website (although they don't do much wargame stuff). Network N is just their corporate identity, but it's all the same people pretty much.
Yeah, I understand why people were uncomfortable with the Slitherine ownership. If it makes you feel better nothing went live on my watch that I fundamentally didn't believe to be true. If push had ever come to that kind of shove I would gladly have died on that hill, because it was important to play this gig as straight as I could, given the context.

You would not have been the first under that ownership
I wonder if this will be like homeworld... the exiles returning... well I don't think so.
But still a bit of nostalgia for that place, back in the close combat days.
Wargamer pretty much died for me when I learned that the previous owner had deleted Longblade's Battlefield Academy review for not being glowing. It's good to know that they likely now belong to someone less underhanded.

I'd go to Wargamer once a month or so and look at reviews. Regretfully, I found that most of the reviews were pretty superficial based on very little play time. It is understandable, the publisher wants as much immediate news on release as possible.
I never write a review without playing it for long enough to get a feel for the game. That usually translates to 1-3 months after release. That is unacceptable for a house organ website.
Speaking of which, I need to take the time to write up a review of PanzerKreig which was quite good in most ways. I even have the screen shots finished.
I'd only visit WG to find my old articles from way back when.

Decided to revisit one of mine. It's still there but the images are missing, I presume due to the migration.

I still have my copies somewhere if you want to put them back. Not sure how much effort you want to undergo restoring years-old reviews.

I firmly believe in credit where credit is due, but fair enough.
If you ever change your mind, just PM me a list of links and the proper credit name and I'll replace them all.
I like the Wargamer. I drop by every day or so just to keep-up with the latest goings-on. I never was a big fan of the forums though-- much more fun here where you can, like at the 'Carwash', act the fool without starting a war. Usually. :coolsmiley:

WargamerJoe has no doubt done a fantastic job with the front end of the old site. We'd hire him here, but I don't think he would be interested in a salary of beer and cigarettes. The fringe benefits are great though...

And then he would blame me.
And punch your stupid face.
Definitely. Anyone remember the Super Bowl commercial that featured AIs and robots run amok in a mad scientist's lab? They wreck it, and towards the end of the commercial a tiny robot tells the scientist 'your face is stupid.' My younger daughter and I laughed our asses off at that commercial but I can't for the life of me remember what it was for.
It was a Sprint commercial.
Thanks. Still makes me giggle.
