Yeah, RNGesus slapping me in the middle of the map with the only 3 pt throne in my capring was pretty rough.  I tried to acquit myself well in spite of the circumstances.

Maybe with some hardcore diplomancing, I may have been able to eek out a better outcome?  But my current game count has me a little too occupied for such things.  Even with said diplomancing, I'm still the monkey in the middle, with the throne strapped to my neck needed for anyone to win the game, so may as well happily accept one's fate.

Best of luck to the remaining players.  I'd say a nice tossup between Mari and Bandar at this point, perhaps depending on the initiative shown, as well as who Man decides to team up with.

Have fun with it!

So what ended up happening? Who is at war with who now?

Beta Patch Update (April 11th 2024)
From Paradox forums

New Update to Open Beta

There is a new branch 2.0.4-old with the previous version that is available NOW!

#######################
# Bugfixes
######################

# Game Mechanic
- Fixed bug where temp modifiers were removed when provinces are annexed as part of a civil war
- Fix a bug when using add_to_war effect, adding a defender would always make it the war leader

# Effects
- Added set_player_country effect to allow modders to swtich the player's country
- Added add_deity_to_pantheon effect to allow deities outside of the allowed pool to a country's pantheon
- Added set_automated_trading effect to enable/disable state automated trading
- Added set_governor_policy effect to change governor policy

- Added add_trade_route and remove_trade_route effects to add and remove trade routes, respectively

# Triggers
- Added is_automated_trading trigger to check if a state has automated trading set
- Added distance_from trigger to check the distance between a province and another province, state (capital) or country (capital)
- Added can_unlock_invention to check if an invention can be unlocked by country (optionally ignoring cost, dependencies and potential trigger)
- Added can_add_trade_route to check if a trade route can be added.

# Other
- Added a modifier cultural_assimilation_speed_modifier, which changes the assimilation speed. Assimilation speed less than 0 prevents assimilation.
- Added a property for subject types to allow them to bypass usual subject diplomatic limitations for declaring war (allowed_to_declare_war_against_others). This is not enabled by default for the base game. To fully enable this to work you'll also need to change the allow triggers for wargoals

Infection Free Zone's Early Access build opens in about an hour.  I messed around with the demo and loved it!!  If you're looking for an RTS base builder in a zombie and gang infested world this checks all of the boxes.  If that's not cool enough, you can build your base ANYWHERE in the world...including your IRL house. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1465460/Infection_Free_Zone/

It's been a busy week thus far, so not to much to report, but we did continue our attack into Port Said! This is turning out to be a bit more challenging that I assumed it would. I am loving fighting with both the French and the British though, it's such a blast! The street fighting is always a challenge, dealing with bunkers in an urban area is a pain in the... well, you know. Exciting times to see what I can do with this scenario though. Oh yes, 40mm Bofors are meat grinders, I'm learning that the hard way.

When you read the accounts of early African exploration, one of the things that is very striking is that each expedition devolved into a very personal struggle that eclipsed the nationality of the explorer. Burton may have been an English Victorian gentleman, but he was a formidable Arabic scholar and the greatest pornographer of his age. One of the root causes of his famous feud with Speke was that he didn't really fit in anywhere, and to some extent this was true of all the other African explorers as well, from Mungo Park to David Livingston.

One thing I really miss in the game is the exploration of West Africa, particularly of the river Niger, and the French expeditions that laid the foundations for the French empire in Africa would have been nice as well.  But at the end of the day it all came down to whether you could maintain control over your askaris and bearers before they deserted or starved to death, and that vibe comes through from the game quite well.

Quote from: joram on April 09, 2024, 06:17:54 AMI have an old monitor so i can't go up that high but i'm running at 2376x1485 at 125% scaling and it works fine.

With that said, while i cant play at a higher resolution, i changed my scaling to 150% to see what would happen and it does cause issues.  I would note my current scaling is 'recommended' by the system but anything higher causes issues because you can't see important areas of the screen.

Really appreciate the above informed comments . Thank you.

I would have preferred a full on "Scramble for Africa" design with different European AI's as opponents....Brits, Portuguese, Dutch,French, Germans even...
