Hello,
Based on the feedback we got from customers and the wargame community, we have finalized our plans. We will release WWIIE on December 1st, 2014.
The game will be released without paper products for now, but will eventually have a registration card, Reference Card and Manual. Cost of the game is $50 to download from Drop Box, and $10 for paper products when the game is complete. Method of payment is paypal, check or money order. No distributors until the full game is complete.
The Schwerpunkt web site will be modified to include these details soon. There is no shipping and handling fees for download of the game from DropBox, just the $50. Paper products will be sold separately at a later date, and will have a shipping and handling fee.
WWIIE has 51 scenarios now, and will eventually grow to 102. The remaining scenarios will be made available through Schwerpunkt for free download to customers who have purchased WWIIE. The game mechanics are complete, only the remaining scenarios need to be developed and tested.
Thanks,
Ron
PS The download from Drop Box is very easy. When you supply me with an email address, Drop Box will notify you with a link to the area to where the WWIIEsetup.exe file resides and give you permissions to download. Once the download is complete, then double click on the WWIIEsetup.exe file and it is a standard install from there.
Great news Ron!
Don't forget to put a link to the Schwerpunkt site in your sig line... ;)
Thanks for the reminder, Staggerwing. Done!
No screenies? More info please! :coolsmiley:
Screenshots have been posted at http://sugarfreegamer.com/?p=83493
I also have some on the FaceBook page for Schwerpunkt PC Wargame
Ron
I know this is a silly question, but will the download version have a PDF version of the rules?
I've never played a Schwerpunkt game before but this is a day 1 purchase for me. Can't wait!
Woot! I can't wait! O0
@smittyohio: The rules and design notes are Help files and are accessible from the Windows menu. However, the Design Notes are only filled in for the 51 scenarios that have been developed and tested.
BTW, we are taking orders for WWIIE at the Schwerpunkt web site. Just click on the Purchase icon at http://schwerpunkt.wargamer.com/
Ron
" We have updated the Schwerpunkt web site, and are now accepting orders for World War II Europe. Just go to the web site, click on the "Purchase" icon, then click on "Add to Cart" next to World War II Europe. From there, just follow the instructions. "
Thanks,
Ron

We had a little glitch here. We have changed our web site so that orders for WWII Europe no longer has a shipping and handling fee. We have deleted the orders we received. If you were one of these, you will have been notified. Please resubmit.
Now we are ready to accept your orders!
Thanks for your patience,
Ron
Hey Ron. I see you're taking orders now but the game won't be ready for download until Dec. 1st. Is this correct? I got no problem ordering now, just not sure when downloading can begin. Thanks.
Taking orders now, but downloads will probably not start until December 1st.
Unless we get ready earlier. No earlier than 11-28.

Sounds like this game is getting close, down to any day now....never played any of the these games before, although was at one time very tempted by the Middle East game.....I certainly will be watching to see what people think about it and how it differs from all the other games like this out there.
Me too.
Just curious with this new release, is there a list of changes and enhancements from their other products they released in the past? Just trying to see how different it is.
We have liftoff! World War II Europe, with the first 51 scenarios, is officially released. The folks who have purchased the game should be getting email notifications from Drop Box with a link to download the game.
Ron
Looking forward to people's impressions and what has changed since last version....also, at what forum is this game mostly discussed, just here and wg? I wasn't sure if there was somewhere else besides those two places.
Just curious = paid my 50 bucks via paypal - I presume the link will follow at some point ?

Please send me an email at schwerpt@wargamer.com. You should have received the link already.
Thanks. We'll get this fixed quickly.

@Grim.Reaper
WWIIE is very different from RGW, AGW and MDE. A few of the differences are below:
1. New user interface. Mouse movement over a hex displays units in the Command Panel. Each unit is spelled out (e.g. 16th Panzer Division), its commander is displayed, and some additional information about the unit (e.g. muster point, content, nicknames etc) is displayed. A different cursor is used for ground, air and naval units. Mouse movement over a hex with the Ctrl key depressed displays infromation about the hex (e.g. terrain, combats that have occurred, etc).
2. Reports are new. Player can select a report on air-air, air-naval, naval-naval, air-ground, and ground-ground combats. Reports list units involved, odds, die roll, retreats. Other reports include out of supply units, reinforcements, destroyed units, and operations performed during Turn Deploy and Ground Move phases.
3. Map size. AGW map has been exteneded to cover Northern Finland, Northwest Africa, and to the Ural mountains in the east. 434 x 360 hexes.
4. Move methods are simpler. Select hex, select unit, select operation, and select destination hex. Stack moves can be done by pressing the Shift key when selecting the unit.
5. Combat ops can be done selecting the defender hex, then selecting attack units, then selecting execute. A Combat analysis capability is included, which allows the player to choose between just the analysis, or executing the combat (with a new die roll).
6. Player options can be stored in a config file and used every time until changed. This includes displaying calculated or uncalulated AF and DF, air unit circles, game assisted cursor moves, top unit select every time, minimize dialog boxes, disable autoscroll and increase the autoscroll rate.
That is only a few. There are more.
Hope this helps,
Ron
Thank you, that helps. Appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Thanks Ron - got it in any case. Looking forward to the other scenarios
Good to see the game has a release! WIth the amount of scenarios available it probably was a wise choice to release what you had, and finish up the rest as people are playing it, than add another year or so development time on to the schedule. I'm sure players giving feedback can help fine tune the engine as the remaining scenarios are being created.
What is the turn scale for the game? I also want to ask - are there any forums that have modded Schwerpunkt games? I recall seeing some unit and map work but can't remember where exactly.
Thanks.
EDIT: my partner just purchased this for me as an early Xmas gift !
Speaking of which, would the WWI mod work with WWIIE?
Anyone playing this? Would love to read some impressions. Not much out there on the internets about this game, beyond what Spelk has posted on his excellent blog.
(This game does have an AI, correct? i.e. not just PBEM / multi-player.)
Affirmative on the AI.
I guess Schwerpunkt doesn't do demo's? I can't see any on the website. That's too bad as I would definitely give the game a try.

5th Horseman did an AAR of Anglo German War over on the site that should not be named... ;)

Middle East War might be a bit closer to what WW2:Europe looks like in structure, though there are probably major upgrades from even that game.
I'm definitely intrigued by the AARs. I'm not a big Demo player, but have to say, in this case, a Demo would be extremely helpful for those of us with no familiarity with Schwerpunkt games. Or at least a YouTube 'Lets play' walk though.
Just bought it.... my poor credit card..... :P
I'll try and get some stuff posted over the Christmas break for all to look at.

...err..... ummm..... maybe? :-\
Does anyone know how big the manual is? Do we get a hardcopy if we order a physical copy of the game?
With the download version I got a manual that's about 8 html pages long. These area accessible from inside the game. I'm making a PDF version for myself for my iPad. These pages explain all you need to play the game.... Winning is something completely different.
There will be a hard copy manual, charts and players aides available some time next year.
