The GrogHeads store on Cafe Press is now open.
Keep in mind that we're still updating designs - our Art Monkey is getting better with each try. And at some point we hope to do some customizing of the store rather than using their template.
However, it is operational and you're welcome to shop. And, if by any chance, you're a better artist than our Art Monkey feel fee to send us some suggestions. We might even use them if you catch us after several bottles of booze and in a good mood.

It looks like they have a base price for everything and then you set the mark up. The mark up is what you get to keep.
Now I've just got to decide what to get. I have already been told no by the wife on the throw pillows... :D

Cool. I have some sheep that I've frankly grown tired of.
Serious question(s) -
What would you honestly like to see in the store that we don't already have?
What's there that you just can't ever see yourself purchasing?
Keep in mind that we are partially constrained by what CafePress offers, but we can try to work with them to add items if there's a demand. It also doesn't hurt our position in discussing products with them if we've got enough sales for them to pay attention to (hint, hint) ;D
Maybe some kind of tote bag or backpack or over the shoulder bag. Coasters would be cool too.
I think the clock could go. Do people even buy clocks these days?
Seriously,
The throw pillows will never get sold... I mean really....
What's missing - I agree with mirth maybe some kind of backpack that's laptop friendly.

OK - a few bags/totes options have been added, as have coasters. You can get round coasters in the text-only, or the saber-logo as a set of 4 puzzle coasters.

Heads-up folks! We've got shirts of many colors now available. They're t-shirts in about 6-8 different colors, with the crossed sabers logo on them right now. I will be adding the same set of shirts with the text-only logo later, and will have some other variations on the logo coming soon, so watch the shop.
Remember, if you've got ideas or suggestions for images, products, etc, feel free to let us know, so we can look into them :)
Meanwhile, Christmas is coming, so get your GH gear list together!
Stickers now available in both text / sabers logos. Stickers are 3"x3" and available with white or transparent backgrounds

Awesome looking forward to it.
OK - got my first box of GH schwag today. A few notes for folks:
Kids sizes run small. My daughter's 3T shirt fits great at 25 months. I was hoping she could wear it into next year, but maybe not. My son's 9 and skinny, and his Youth M (10-12) hoodie is already tight around the neck.
The women's shirts are a little on the short side. Not necessarily mid-drift short, but taller women may need to get men's shirts instead.
Guys shirts are pretty substantial/hefty.
Daughter got a sack pack for her soccer stuff and it's a solid little bag. The 'natural' color comes in pretty yellow, though.
The 3x3 stickers have some serious adhesive on them. They could probably stick to water.

This demands testing, Brant. ;)
^Is that the clear ones?

Yes. We got some for Bayonet Jr's soccer team (Gunners) so he could stick them on his homework folder and stuff for school.
Quote from: bayonetbrant on September 10, 2012, 05:25:47 PMThe military shirts will be going back up by tomorrow. I pulled them down to get the GrogHeads tag in them, and will get them back up shortly, along with more consistency in the products across the different images.
Carrier and Armor are going up right now. I gt my Armor shirt yesterday, and it look suh-WEET!

I'd wear those, or a pair of pershings
Maybe someone will add an S-tank design since we'll all need some loafers as well.
OK guys - the store's been open about 7 weeks now, and there's been 3 orders, and one of them is me (an order which included a bunch of soccer stuff for the kids & wife).
For the other 2 of you that ordered something - THANKS!
For the rest of you, what's the holdup?
Are you waiting for different artwork?
Are you looking for a particular product that isn't in the store?
Are the prices not in line with what you'd expect to spend?
Fear of the domestic spousal unit?
If you don't tell us what you're looking for, then we can't try to respond for you :)
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm completely broke. Do you guys take foodstamps?

Yeah, that's the boat I'm in as well. My car's going to need some work so I've had to put the bank card away for a bit.
Is shipping to Canada via USPS - I looked at it but couldn't see anything right off ?
No worries. I just had to roll over my teeny tiny 401k when I just changed jobs so I kept a little 'fun money' to buy a rifle and some phat and jooshy GH loot. How much for a windbreaker with a U-boot conning tower with the GH logo on the side and my forum name? ;)

Here is Cafe Press' shipping rate page.

It looks like it depends on what item you are buying and the number of items you get.

A customs broker is typically needed to massage all the paperwork through Customs.
You don't absolutely have to have one IIRC, but it makes the process of shipping across a border much easier.
The trick is that it is usually a profitable business. The minimum most companies will charge is $50, though for reasons that will require more storytime than you or I probably want to invest, FedEx broke that mold pushing it down to about $10.
The post office, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to have that problem. Generally speaking they're the cheapest method for shipping small stuff across a border. I have no idea why. Perhaps, because it's a governmental agency, they have no agenda to make clearance a profit center. Whether they even cover their costs is a different question for a different day. And I honestly do not know the answer - I never had a reason to cross paths with a USPS customs broker.

This... BUT UPS and FEDEX don't give you the choice about using a broker, you must use theirs and they rip you off in the process. >:(
Its not unusual for the brokerage fees to cost almost as much as the item!

I know. I used to sell international transport. The system is not set up to be price competitive for sending a couple of t-shirts from the US to Canada.
Folks, I just realized I've been getting coupons from Cafe Press in my Inbox.
I had assumed that these were for me because I created the Cafe Press account, but in reading the fine print, I think they're general coupons without restriction.
Until Thursday at midnight you can get 30% off an order by entering the discount code "TRIPLE".
Let us know if it works.

Ack!
OK, I'll post the next one I get and we'll see where that takes me. Maybe they cross-check the coupon against emails or something.
Just in time for the holidays - we've reduced prices in the CafePress store through the end of the year!
This is your chance to grab some great GrogHeads swag and update your kit!

woot!
My loot from the GrogHeads' store black Friday sale just came in the mail today.
Two awesome shirts and a mouse pad I'm giving out as a gift. I really like the Recon shirt.

Those do look sweet!
glad you like the Recon shirt - I had fun with that design :)
I've got the Keep Calm shirt in white-on-red I'll send a photo of at some point
please be assured that it'll look better on you than it does on me ;)

A suggestion popped up for another t-shirt slogan:
QuoteWe wantss it. Even though we have a bunch of games we've not even playyyed.

I'll get right on it when you get a real sig image ;)
we're going to be updating some of the shirts on offer... any suggestions?
How about a series of those 'Lawful Good', 'Chaotic Evil', slogans with suitably nerdy images for each one?
Another option would be a drawing of Gus in a John Phillips Sousa jacket with welding goggles hanging around his neck.
The caption below him could read 'GrogPunk'...

I vote Grand Admiral Thrawn for either the LE or LN alignment (depending on your perspective of him). ;D
Looking at possibly refreshing some of the options here
what would y'all like to see?
what might you actually buy?
Is there a list of the things that cafe press offers which might not yet be part of the Grogheads store?
not really. there's probably some dumb stuff like Christmas ornaments, or stickers whose shape doesn't really line up with our logo. But we pretty much threw everything out there, since it's no cost to us to add it to the store.
Maybe we should get a Makerbot and crank out Grogheads Minis to sell...

LOL! Will he be based on Vern Troyer or Danny Devito?
I'm only half joking about the idea of a Grogheads Games Studio. Actually, much less than half.
What would the coolest and yet financially most profitable genre idea be? Panzers? Nappy?
Space Marines Offworld Shock Troops?
There's a fine line between running a gaming community and overlapping into game production. I'm not sure we want to go there just yet as a mgmt team.
I was just asking about general GH merch to see what folks might be interested in
This still cracks me up...
